  1. Is there a difference between model year consumption figures, I'm sure I read somewhere that the facelift 2017 onwards may be more efficient....not sure
  2. Love the fuel price column ! June 2020 £1 a litre , June 2022 £2 a litre !!!
  3. About 10 years back I bought a car from a dealer with bad wear to the bolster and a bit on the seat. As part of aftersales they sent a chap out who specialised in repairs. The benefit was ( as it was done at home) watching him work. He had swatches to match the colour then cracked on with the repair building it back up and treating it. The end result was fantastic. You would never notice the repair. I would thoroughly recommend using a specialist to carry out the work for you. Back then his charge was £80 , not sure costs in today's climate. Interestingly as part of his role was he was contracted to sofa company's also carrying out repairs for delivery mishaps etc. I,m sure the DIY route is achievable but if you want a proper job use someone with the experience to do it for you.
  4. In the past I have used autoglym leather care balm but I think they also do a cleaner. I used the balm on my perforated beige/cream leather seats in a previous lexus I owned with good results. You can also use it on other leather parts within the car, steering wheel ,gear gaitor etc. I'm not an expert on leather but when speaking to someone who was they stressed the importance of 'feeding the leather' ( to prevent during out) as well as cleaning the leather when it picks up marks. https://www.autoglym.com/leather-cleaner-balm
  5. It looks like they are on sale at lexuspartdirect @ £454 https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-is-phase-3-o-s-headlight/ Seems like some on eBay trying to get £600 secondhand...makes the new one a good buy if it's a complete replacement
  6. Hopefully the parts will be available to sort. With the current global situation I know someone who has waited 4 months for an NX repair. Sorted now but was flying around in a courtesy/rental car for that period of time. His was a no fault also. Looking at your photos it's likely they will want to change the sensors also. Be interesting if you could find out the repair cost, I bet it's not far off 3-4k by the time it's sorted.
  7. The black wheels make your car look so different to the original look, a more modern look .. assume your happy with them...who did you use for the job... What's the process for the trim de-chrome? (Remove and wrap or done Insitu?) Are you running cross climates on the IS,how do you find them? One small point and cheap to sort...(common with Lexus/Toyota ) now you've had the wheels done it shows the rusty looking locking wheel nut on each wheel....cheap to sort, just over 20.00 for a new set and will make it look so much better (unless you see past them) Link to new set here.... https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-chrome-wheel-lock-nut-set/
  8. I'm searching my brain for the answer to this , as convinced a salesman at a dealer provided the answer to it. Why are some lexus dealer used car prices strange on certain used cars, example £31018 and £27697 yet other cars in stock have sensible rounded off numbers £27495 etc. The weird prices look like there on a lot of cars.
  9. Is that a typo in the part cost? Assume it is 1000gbp . I would guess the labour for a rack at another 5-600gbp at a lexus dealer.
  10. The alloys were suffering from what I believe is known to be a common fault (lacquer peel) and did have the odd kerb rash mark....I chose ' The Wheel Specialist' to sort them. Not the cheapest, but you really want the best job and quality. They have a very high review rating on trustpilot etc and I found the service second to none. Would recommend to anyone considering needing wheels refurbished
  11. Check here, they look to be on offer at 78.99 along with an additional 10 percent off so brings them in about 71 delivered....a good buy for brand new delivered https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252297161960?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=AB5nao4QS4S&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=S9ZQjjNCQda&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  12. Looks fantastic for a nearly 20 year old car ....says a lot about build quality.....I notice on the reg that its originally a north east car so guess it's remained in the area in its lifetime....got to be better than the Mondeo surely.?.....enjoy
  13. A lexus approved body shop will come in anywhere between 850-950 including vat for the job, a lot of the labour (depending on complexities) is for removal of sensors, lights, headlight washers, reflectors etc....it can look quite daunting when you see the photo of them removed, especially the front. Yes you pay a bit of a premium compared to a non approved shop, but the level of guarantee on the job (finish) refitting with alignment and knowing it goes back how it should be could be worth paying that bit extra for. It ultimately depends how you view it and if your holding on to the car for a number of years to come.
  14. Might be some relevant info in this thread on the U.S forums https://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/66361-car-wont-start-shift-to-p-when-starting/
  15. Big money for a 11 year old motor, but likely an appreciating classic at some stage.! The trader gets decent reviews and is selling some expensive motors.
  16. The used car market is certainly not flooded with vehicles that have a full main dealer history and for buyers that can be a stand out when you come to sell it (privately). There's a wide range of arguments over folk even going to a main dealer for any service. I know one private company who do not even service their cars anywhere and simply only carry out an oil and filter change when they feel like it. They believe that they save about 1500 over 5 years then just trade the car in regardless, getting whatever the book price is at the time. If your going to save 150.00 by not going to lexus for the service then perhaps consider 1 year,2 years down the line, are you going to sell privately or trade it in or are you going to run it forever till the end. If it's going to be sold privately then you may get your additional cost back by adding a few hundred quid to your asking price. I guess what's really important in all of this is that whoever services your car carries out the work to a high standard and that your comfortable with their work.
  17. Mate of mines Audi Q5 Failed its first MOT on suspension bushes, only 25k on the clock and just 3 year old. He's put it down to the weight of the vehicle and UK roads/potholes/speedbumps etc. He seems to accept it as 'normal'..my view was won't it just happen again in another 3 years time? Interesting to see if this is common on the NX
  18. I know someone who was on the receiving end of these at a dealership. He used to go mad, as he said that they are obliged to provide a formal response. He told me that offers used to land that were half of the asking price. He said it took a bit of his time up to politely respond (NO) I know that it was normally a given to accept an offer of a couple of percent less so on a 20000 transaction , 19600 would normally be accepted. Although the market is so buoyant right now the only positive is that the car your after must be aimed at a very narrow market so perhaps an offer of up to 5 percent off would be accepted...who knows? Worth a try
  19. Justification is a hard one to call but you know that a dealer would swap out the jet and wouldn't spend time trying to clear with pin and air as you describe. Sounds like you've improved it which is great. The justification from the dealer again would argue that your jets are not working to spec (as new ones would) therefore replacements were the answer, therefore justifying their estimate. I would say most dealers regardless of manufacturer would adopt this same approach with the only variable being the cost. The premium brand can carry a premium cost.
  20. company dissolved in December. Not sure you can legally advertise after that.... https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12273561/filing-history
  21. I would have expected at least 30 to 40k out of a set of discs, more if light footed....Toyota/Lexus have had issues in the past with brake manufacturer where discs were lasting much less and showing pitted after a couple of year.....
  22. Problem you,ll find is it will get worse. Then also with the weather and roads the way they are at the minute (cars are getting filthy) and more winter to come , you will find it a pain when your trying to clear the screen and it doesn't work correctly. My view, once it's done it's done. Is that all that's flagged up on the service?
  23. Is that the fully fitted price for both jets? Sometimes they change the valve as well as it can be prone to blocking so reduces the pressure. I know that some labour is involved so you'd kind of expect that 80 percent of the cost is made up of labour. When did it have a last lexus service as it may qualify under lexus relax if it was within 12 months
  24. From my understanding some of Lexus fluids are classified as lifetime fluids , ie.no need to change unless you are replacing the components in question. This could be why it is not mentioned? Is there a reason you want to change it? Is it due to mileage or just something you've done on other cars. Any fluid changes would be shown on service records if you have access to them.Lexus databases are good so simply quoting your reg to a dealer may provide you with a background The only other overiding factor for changing lifetime fluids would be if your car is subject to operating in extreme conditions , something like minus 40 degrees in the winter to +40 degees in the summer from memory so that would rule us out here in the UK
