  1. I may be wrong but in all applications I've ever seen turbos are known for heat generation where's a supercharger typically runs cold. Running a turbo from the rear of the car has obvious disadvantages (length of pipework for one) which will certainly affect power output and efficiency of any turbo. Turbos are popular now for cheap power gains in most cases and for those manufacturers with a focus on emissions in 'power' cars. As already advised, you need a recirc or dump valve on a turbo ot it'll be laggy as a laggy thing or fluttering like a pigeon! I'm not sure if i'm reading it wrong but the very first post here sounds like you've got the requirements (and pros and cons) for a turbo and supercharger the wrong way round? Might just be me. I'm with Pete and all other responders. SC all the way for our motors. Preferably from RR so you know it's well thought out and properly tested, unlike the Tesco Value Range Turbo kits that eBay has on buy one get one free! You gets what you pays for and if you've shelled out top money for an F-Car don't stick a shonky turbo on it cos it was 'cheaper'. And that's coming from Mr Fast and Furious MR2!
  2. I owned an S Type R for 2 years. I spent 3 times the original purchase price fixing and maintaining it. Comfy? Yes. Great to drive? Yes, but not like an M3 or ISF. Reliable. Absolutely not! I test it drove two XFR's before buying my ISF last year, one from the dealer that had supplied and maintained my STR. The service manager came out to see me after my test drive and when I asked him if I should buy the XFR he simply said "nothing has changed Mr Graham" . If you want to get one put the same amount aside to keep it on the road. Good luck!! P.S. isn't that your Dad's car?
  3. There was a post only a few weeks ago about this very subject. The consensus was to avoid them. Personally I've had poor experience with Jags. Very nice to drive. Very expensive to run and maintain. Mine was in the shop every verse end with endless error messages. Plus, regardless of your current age, you always look like you borrowed it off your dad!
  4. Yes mate! Cool factor only I for the RCF in this case unless Lexus are getting very techie without our knowledge. I'm gonna try the duck option and see if it works! Quack!!
  5. Copyright "winglets" immediately! In the world of sticking any possible spoiler type thing on your car I believe they are called 'Canards'. Bonus points to anyone who sticks a duck (preferably French) on their front bumper and posts a photo. P.S. Diffusers are for winners! Get one!
  6. Welcome to the F Club Charlie. Looking forward to seeing you at the 10 year meet if not before! She looks ace! Get some more pics up when you get her home. Dan.
  7. Ouch! Unlucky Wayne. Was That from the fog light covers guy in the states or from the Rusogarage guy? Did it look like it would have fitted? I think they say that if the box looks damaged you should bounce it with the courier to get a refund. Not sure where you'll stand now chief.
  8. Happy Birthday Big Rat! Although I'm still undecided on whether I'll ever be able to talk to you again after this 'non-silver' decision. You've changed! ;-) Hope you've had a great day with the new toy mate.
  9. Congrats on the purchase Big Rat! Not long to wait now. Might want to get your cameara lens cleaned though. That silver RCF almost looks black in the photos
  10. Not that i’m about to change mine but I saw a set of these in the flesh today. You can get them in any width you want in half inch increments, any size from 17 up to 22 and any offset you want, special order. They’re actually not that pricey either. Definitely not rushing out to buy them tomorrow but what do you reckon to these on silver ISF?
  11. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Custom-exhaust-back-boxes-off-a-Lexus-IS-f-/253206855254 This is them, they look good on the car. Might be a steal for someone in the market.
  12. Looks like someone is selling a set of aftermarket back boxes on fleabay. By reading the ad looks like they’re not an enthusiast. The boxes look a lot like the RR racing ones. Can’t get the link to copy for some reason but if you search “custom ISF back boxes” they are there.£200 in fleet, Hampshire. Photos of another potentially unknown ISF on the ad for you too Big Rat!
  13. Get it checked If there is any damage to the bumper carrier or support bars this could mean that in the event of a 'real' crash the car does not perform as it should and you'll end up injured. Just had this with my wife's car.
  14. Oooh controversy! I like 'em although I've not driven one. Hate the alloys though. Love the Tan leather though. Stupid pop out door handles. Every one I've seen in the dealers has had one or more stuck popped out. Do like that white one though, just needs some black alloys!
  15. Stay away from the XFR! This was my alternative choice when I got my ISF last year too. They are no more reliable than your STR would be once you start racking the miles up. Be prepared for the 'gearbox fault' limp modes at every verse end and endless misfires that both seem to be totally fine as soon as you get to the dealer and pay 'em £150 for a fruitless diagnostic check. I loved my STR for the ride, styling and power but it cost me the same as the car cost me to own it for two years and it had every conceivable issue. From what the head tech at Solihull Jag told me in good faith, the XFR's are no better. Get an ISF and relax for the rest of your life!
  16. I've been told by two dealers and the warranty dept direct that as my car is 'modified' then they would not warranty it This was when I only had an intake and filter on it although others appear to have warranties with H&S fitted so not sure what the hard and fast rule is. Mr Warranty Dept at Lexus said that even if my brakes failed they'd not warranty them as the car had been 'modified' regardless of the fact that the mods and the failure were totally unrelated.
  17. Spot on, thanks Wayne. I found those for sale from that guy too! Let me know how they look when they arrive. Like you say, the fog light covers are good so fingers crossed. Dan.
  18. Hi Wayne, Did you ever get this stuff? Interested to see how it all fitted. Dan
  19. Hi! Just wondering how these are bedding in? Any issues with sticking or Windows not going up or down?
