  1. Engine Bugger changing that drive belt :winky: , 0 to 60 in shade over 5 secs and for only £19k The only downside is 12 miles to the gallon (US) at UK prices :yack: :yack:
  2. If the alternater is faulty then the dealer should renew it under warranty and yes I have known alternators to fail in a lot shorter period that 2 yrs and less that 32k
  3. You haven't mention how old your car is or mileage It could be the alternator not pushing out enough charge, you need to put a voltmeter across the battery and rev the engine to 2000 to 2500 rpm, the voltage should be between 13.8 and 14.5 volts, if the reading is lower 13 volts, could be your alternator on it's way out. Note The volt meter in to 'IP' is only indication and should not be taken as being spot on.
  4. Looking at the TTE web site they sell bolt goodies for varrious Toyota and Lexus cars, AMG on the other take a production vehicle, strip it, rebuild it with all sorts of nice things and then watch then go like a rocket,
  5. In this type of situation always shift the transmission into neutral, don't worry about the engine revving on the limiter, worry about having steering and brakes Engine parts are easy to replace, Human body parts are not so easy to replace.
  6. No Probs, no matter what was on the road, SNOW, ICE etc the car and driver took it all in it's stride, Although coming home last night a trip that normally takes about 15mins took nearly hour, not the cars fault, it was wally drivers and no gritt on the roads. Give me rear wheel drive anytime :winky:
  7. I can't answer for TTE or Lexus from the driving seat, when certain parts are tuned for NVH, all seating positions will give differnent sound traces and also remember they are also tuned for drive-bye noise which is a legal requiement, The resonator on the IS could be tuned only for drive-by noise. if this was the case then from the driving seat you wouldn't notice the difference :winky:
  8. That's the best one I ever heard, Intake resonators are tuned to certain freq, to either take away air borne noise or change the resonant freq for a more throaty sound. Also the size of the resonator will make a big differance to the sound you hear inside the car. Well that's what I do with them. :winky:
  9. The only way to get rid of the smell is either get rid of the car or carpet, tuff choice, they are the only solutions. Many years ago a freind of mine, his girlfriend spillet milk all over the front seats and carpet, he tried everything, you name he tried it, the only thing that worked was renewing the carpet, seat cover seat foam etc etc. The choice is yours.
  10. Sounds like the catalyst substrate has failed, back pressure build up causeing the engine to stall, you may have part melted the front face of the substrate, If the Hego sensors have failed then the Engine Malfuntion light would be illuminated, this is the little amber warning light shaped like an engine, This warning light also covers other systems on car as well, even if the it's not illuminated doesn't mean all is well with the emission system. If it were mine the and no error codes were found stored in the ECU I would remove and check the catalyst.
  11. This is Mine might not 'LEX'. Creates a hell of lot of attention. Gives me a laugh, Go for the plate and enjoy
  12. I would interested and I am assuming you mean the ones at just after the Wickford turn-off on the London bound side. weekday evenings OK as I work 5 mins further down heading towards London .
  13. Crawling around under the dash to disconnect the passenger side air bag is not recommended, the self test system that checks all the air bags are working correctly will register a fault and none of the air bags will work. Air bags are not toys and shouldn't be played with unless you fully understand what your dealing with. Note: Some manufactures do a fit a swtich normally operated by the ignition key and also allow the passenger side air bag to be swtiched off by resetting the PCM (certain Flags are changed from 1 to 0). These are the only ways you can disable the passenger side air bag and have nil effect to the operation to the other air bags fitted in the vehicle.
  14. 2004 IS Dash Tray Closed 2004 IS Dash Tray Open
  15. Looking at the ISOFIX chart, they have been tested with ISOFIX but not fitted as standard (? Why) and the comments say, 'consult dealer' for safety shake why not have a chat with your local Lexus dealer. When my two used the child seat I never used the dianginal belt because the child seat alway felt loose. I used the same seat belt fixing with a slightly longer bolts and used straping locked by pulling it tight around the steel frame of seat not inside the silly plastic clips, this way the seat was forced back into the normal car seat. the only problem was the wife could never undo the strapping. That was downside, the upside was the seat never moved. One other thing to remember, I still think this to be true,(if I'm wrong feel free to correct me) There is no legal requirement to crash test child seats and some of the testing I've seen on childrens seats have shown that some don't offer much protection to the head on small children so make sure what ever one you use they is plenty on padding where there is head moment. Have a look at the NCAP website http://www.euroncap.com there might be more details somewhere on there site
  16. It's not adviseable to retro fit ISO hooks as the vehicles fitted with ISOFIX have been subjected to special crash testing, that's why they have unique fittings and the fixing areas have also been strenghtened so that fixings don't rip out on impact.
  17. Talk to the JDMparts guru, I am currently waiting on the New 2004 version plus a couple of other bits, this version is now fitted in all 2004 IS's much better than old level, very similer in design to the Sat-Nav unit without the screen.
  18. Very nicely put, slightly , think about this If I fly the George Cross, I'm seen as a Racist although it is the Flag of 'England' If I say 'hay lets start an English Socitiy' again I'm Racist Is the MOBO Music awards Racist cos no white people are allowed to either enter a recieve an award There are several others I could mention. I think there is an imbalance in this country at the moment and if nothing is done to address it, all we doing is storing up trouble because it won't belong until someone say's 'That's it I've had enough of this' and all hell will break loose. What is going at the moment is only at the moment is only the tip of the iceberg, you only have to go the BBC web site forums and see the what the general public are saying in support of Kilroy.
  19. Always use the auto light function, one of the better 'toys'. I've never had to manual switch on, if anything the sensor is a little over senstive.
  20. It's nice to see all these 'wants', one question you need to ask yourself is how many of you have actually complained to your dealer about the so called missing toys. All the 'Wants' mentioned have been around on different manifactures cars for years like trip computer one shot up and down on all windows radio controls on the steering wheel Memory seats remote gobal window closeure Auto locking doors after pull away. etc etc I have owned cars with all the above fitted as standard apart from memory seats. I didn't by my IS200 for the toys or tha lack of them, I brought it because I wanted to own one, the moral of the story is 'If you want 'toys' buy a high volume main stream car' because they have to tempt you to buy. You buy a Lexus because you want one.
  21. I think Kilroy is intitled to his opinion like everbody else, based on public opinion on the matter he should be back in his job very soon. Based on the facts, the same artical was published nearly a year ago, No complaints, No media coverage so why the complaints now, me thinks someone somewhere wants to have their 15 minutes of fame. Free Speech is something that was fought for many years ago and I'm sick and feed up with the minority of so called liberial do gooders running this country. Just my opinion.
  22. Could try here http://www.pipex.net/ not the best in world, not the worst either
  23. There's one important section missing 'Warranty Repair' any chance of adding this as it would be quite interesting to see how good or bad the car really is, it would be nice to keep track of all the work carried on individual cars, not just mods. Just a thought
  24. No 'IS' comes with a chrome tail pipe, the 'Sport and LE' come with a polished stainless steel tail pipe. The aftermarket version fits over the existing tail-pipe
