  1. We have Pireli P7 (came on the car) and when they need to be changed we'll get Continental All Season Contact (probably new number by now) as we have had in most of our cars. Excellent mileage, rather low noise and great handling.
  2. While this is annoying, it is normal for batteries to lose power and need replacement. On the bright side it seems the CT200H is the car with least problems of all Lexus as there is rather few new issues compared to the other models of Lexus. We have the most economic of all the luxury brand and maybe also the most reliable. Maybe. I will have my battery looked after next service as it is now 4 years and 2½ months old.
  3. Nobody seems to mention or remember that the front mirrors could be looked at without turning the head. 50 years ago this was a stunning car. I still love it.
  4. I had this one. Mirrors did work. Not as good on the CT but well enough for me then. Long time ago. Was younger then.
  5. After seeing this I looked through my jeans and removed the metal on the rear of them. Stupid companies that put metal ads on rear pockets and stupid me that has not noticed before. Such things can do a lot of damage to leather seats. Luckily nothing happened to our seats.
  6. I have never used anything for my leather seats in cars so that is why they did not look like new when getting the next car. Will search and see what I feel good about and then buy, as the seats in our CT still look new.
  7. Makes me happy that I live where temperature is 15 degrees Celsius at night and all local born tell me it is freesing cold. Did you actually drive a couple of miles without mirrors?
  8. Wonder if Lexus is a bit or maybe very optimistic about fuel consumption. Have now had the car for some months and for me it is drinking 2.3 L more per 100 km than the 3.8 Lexus claim. Not that 16 km/l is bad, but it sure is less than 26km/l. Wonder if pollution data are equally optimistic.
  9. Hi Colin, As Global Moderator you will probably be asked questions and some may be outside what you do. On the web-site I am told that: “Connection is not secure. This web-site contains content that is not secure etc.” Is it something to be worried about? In these times we probably worry about things not really important, but maybe that is not so bad. Probably in wrong forum, but bear with me.
  10. Thank you, Colin, Absolutely. Lexus/Toyota should be able. Service here in the islands is run by one company that is interested in doing the small fixes themselves for astronomical amounts and I was told that Lexus is not supplying touch up paint. Toyota does but have no similar colour. Looking at Chipex I see that Toyota have 3 cars with same colour. Lexus service on the Island here suck. Colour is 8X9. Ordered 2 different from eBay yesterday, but if not perfect will get the one from Chipex.
  11. Went to my Lexus/Toyota service point today to get a paint stick or a touch-up-set. Was told Lexus do not make anything for fixing such small scratches. Anybody here know where to get such thing on the internet or should I go to a car paint garage to get a very minor scratch repaired?
  12. I think this is better than a picture of me. No reason to scare the readers.
  13. Hi John, you asked me to send pictures. One of them is showing that I am not a good CT driver. Seems I am using more fuel than I did on the old Golf 2.0tdi DSG and I am driving the same way (5L/100km). Gasoline is more expensive than Diesel. Still the CT is a really nice car and I am sure that it is polluting less than the old diesel and that is the real purpose for a hybrid (for me at least), and all the luxury like no need to use the remote, just touch the handle and the car unlock or lock, automatic adjustment of seat; silent driving in garages and all the other comfort gadgets. If it also is as reliable as I have heard then it is close to the perfect car. Dipped beam is giving so much light that high beam is very seldom needed, and that is a good thing as high beam is a yellowish tint from a halogen while the dipped is clear white LED light. Do I recommend Lexus: YES!
  14. Also see that you want to know how the Lexus is serviced: So far by Lexus/Toyota. Next service will be with independant as Lexus here is nothing to write home about (al least not good), and only thing I will use Lexus/Toyota for is insuring the hybrid battery. Asked if there is a sat radio receiver in it and had no answer. I have a lot of radio stations I never had before in the Golf tdi/dsg which was the best Golf in 2005 so I suppose that there may be someting different with the radio, but if it is a sat radio receiver or not I do not know. Do not know if the CT is running so far on each tank as factory claim, but at least no black smoke is coming from it as from the Golf when accellerating uphill. Really happy with the Lexus, automatically brake when somebody ahead of us slows down, or another car cross in close in front of us. So automatic that it is more than I expected.
  15. Agree with that part. Please do not ridicule other members of the forum for having different meanings than you have.
  16. I am happy with the CT with its FWD. Most people can handle a car with that. Would be fantastic if Lexus could make electric engines to put in the rear wheels. Not that the CT has power that justify that, but as mentioned earlier here: on really steep climbs, FWD drive cars do that climbing best in reverse. For a skilled driver I believe RWD is better than FWD. Most of the funny cars I have had were RWD. All of the really funny cars I have had were RWD. Only AWD car I have enjoyed was Lancia Delta EVO2. 1994 is long time ago. Still remember it as the most noisy and uncomfortable car I know.
  17. Hi all and hope we soon can get vaccinated so we can live more freely use our nice cars more. Gallons are impossible to understand. For me. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: The gallon is a unit of measurement for volume and fluid capacity in both the US customary units and the British imperial systems of measurement. Three significantly different sizes are in current use: the imperial gallon (imp gal), defined as 4.54609 litres, which is used in the United Kingdom, Canada, and some Caribbean nations; the US gallon (US gal) defined as 231 cubic inches (exactly 3.785411784 litres), which is used in the US and some Latin American and Caribbean countries; and the US dry gallon ("usdrygal"), defined as 1⁄8 US bushel (exactly 4.40488377086 litres). There are four quarts in a gallon and eight pints in a gallon, and they have different sizes in different systems. When it comes to miles it is just as confusing. 1 Scandinavian mile (Finland, Norway & Sweden) is more or less 10km Spanish mile a bit more than 5km Nautical mile 1.8km Great Britain mile 1.609.3426km London mile 1.524km I believe that if growing up with miles, gallons, pints (that all can come in different sizes) it is easy to understand gallons per mile. I also do not fully understand the AM/PM but OK. Must be me that is a slow learner as I find km/l a lot easier and as far as I know it could be a more precise way of figuring out how much it cost in fuel to drive from A to B. I grew up learning that. Lexus Spain tell us that the CT200H Luxury/Premium will use 3.8 litre pre 100 kilometres which is 26km/l. I think without having calculated yet when filling up and driving that I get about 20km/l but the island here is not flat at all. When going uphill gasoline engine is running constant and going down again, I get full hybrid battery rather fast so on flat roads I believe the 26km/l are possible. Anyway, we are happy with our CT and if it run 20 or 25km on one litre is all good. Tax is cheaper and insurance also than our previous cars. The pics are found searching with Google
  18. No mentioning of engines placed in the rear or in the middle of the car. Paris - Dakar in Saudi desert. These cars are not meant for daily driving. Still no reason to leave a good rear wheel drive car in garage because weather is not good if driver is good.
  19. All wheel drive is the only drive form better for rally and extreme driving than rear wheel drive. Going uphill with rwd in snow it is good to have weight in the trunk. I once needed my wife to sit on the spoiler of our Toyota MR2 1st generation to get the car in garage. For normal driving it does not matter if car has front- rear- or all-wheel drive. PS.: Not everybody considers normal driving same way. I have been driving a Lancia Delta EVO2 (awd) and several rwd cars. They all handle different, but with correct set up tyres most modern cars are easy to drive and Lexus is absolutely making good easy to drive cars. But with 149 posts on this forum I am pretty sure you know that already. 😊
  20. Thank you. Great info. Did not know that. Mine is 2016. Will it be using EV up to 80 - 90 km/h? I rarely go faster as I do not want to pay fines. Which are the conditions that must be right in order to have EV mode? Want to pollute as little as possible so if there is something I can do in order to use the power stored in the battery more efficient I will do that. I only see the EV light when not using the speeder pedal or when braking.
  21. I see full bar every time I go downhill and when going up engine is running and keeps running and showing 5 or 6 stripes. Unfortunately I can only use EV mode when going below 30km/h which is only useful in parking lots.
  22. Hi John, you want negative talk about Lexus service: I was told by the Lexus service assistant that the SD-card for navigation was having a lot of other data from my car and not only the updated street maps and other navigation data. Completely bull****. Unfortunately, I was stupid enough to let him order a new SD-card from Japan and paid in advance. 7 times what it would have cost me to buy a similar card from eBay. Then I had to wait more than a month for it to come. If bought from eBay it would have been 3 – 4 days. I was told that Lexus had UV protection in all windows. Not how much though; he would search and inform me. Never happened. Found in my belongings a UV measuring device and found out that front windshield indeed has 100% UV-A and UV-B protection. Side windows less than 5% which is no more than all common glass windows have when they are not protected. When informing him that, he told me I could have UV protection on the rear side windows and making them dark. Not what I wanted. Asked for fully transparent UV protection in all door windows and was told it was not legal to have film in front door windows unless I had documentation from medics and the explanation about the needed illness he gave was once again completely not true. Bull**** is what I got when asking almost anything. I searched and found out that 3M has the UV protection I was searching for, but the 3M authorised workshop here told me that they would not install the transparent UV protection film. I also found out that 3M has had so many problems with their transparent film that I continued my search. Found https://europeafricarussia.llumar.com/choose-a-product/automotive-window-films/clear-window-films and being stubborn as I am I found a workshop that would install the transparent film here and now I have 100% UV protection, even in the sun roof so I can see out without having my bald spot exposed to UV. I wrote a complaint to the boss from the company and informed about the poor service quality I received from the service assistant and asked for another person to handle servicing my car next time and had a real bad treatment so no more going there. Unfortunately, the nearest service spot for Lexus not owned by same company is 2 days on ferry away so I suppose I will have only battery maintenance once yearly here made with Lexus and have other service, oil change etc. made from an unauthorized Toyota service workshop (that is servicing most hybrid taxis here for maybe obvious reasons) and not going to the Lexus/Toyota authorized here. I have seen that some on this forum recommend to have a service contract/warranty or insurance or something like that, and if (as I expect) Lexus is such trustworthy a car, it puzzles me why it should be needed. I do not use both suspenders and belt to keep my pants in place and except from Alfa, Austin/Morris, BMW, Matra, Peugeot I have never found any car so poor in quality that I have been thinking of having a service insurance. Lexus is really a great car and does not deserve such a poor service organisation
  23. Had a 280ZX and a 300ZX later a Micra. The 300 ended up in a tree but no fault on the car. Motor was still running and not a scratch on me. All 3 Needed nothing more than gasoline, ordinary service and nothing more. For me they were reliable.
  24. Had an Accord Coupé Automatic from year 2000 and it was good. Now I have a Lexus CT200H Luxury and if I needed a bigger car the Honda would be one of the possibilities but the Lexus is in all other ways the better car for me. Sure it is 16 years newer and that makes it impossible to compare. Honda, Nissan are the 2 brands that are similar to Lexus in reliability in my opinion. Rather sure, that if I need a new car: It will be a Lexus.
