  1. I suppose this gives a new meaning to "I'm going for a burn up in the Tesla"
  2. That follows the car transporter that caught fire last year off the Azores and sank.Again thought to be caused by a milk float catching fire.Along with numerous clips of spontaneously combusting Tesla's,are we seeing a trend here?
  3. I bought a used 2020RC about 18 months or so ago from Lexus Guildford. At the time of agreeing to purchase,I mentioned that the rear tyres looked a bit worn.On collection, the car had 2 brand new tyres that had not been promised,so pretty pleased. The salesman was good...the right blend of being able to sell, without being too pushy..a fairly rare trait in car sales,or sales generally. When the service was due,I phoned around the local dealers..Reading,Swindon, Guildford and Southampton.Reading didn't answer the phone and of the others, Southampton was by far the most knowledgeable and switched on so I used them and was very pleased with the service. They also did the LO C discount.
  4. Yes for relax warranty, but no for RSA.You will need to make your own arrangements either with RSA or another provider..from memory RSA is £155pa.
  5. I looked closely at my rear light earlier and it looks like your "vespa" is in the indicator section of the light cluster. There must be some way into that section from the boot.
  6. I think Renato has the facelift RC which ,I'm sure has a mixture of led and traditional bulbs in the rear light cluster. As John says above, you may be able to get into the fitting from the boot. The indicator bulb is the traditional type. Why they put a mixture of bulbs on is a mystery. I think it unlikely it will turn to dust.We had a spider in the rear light of our old Mazda CX7 the looked the same for about 7 years.
  7. No.Given up and all my music is now on my phone, relayed via Android Auto wirelessly.
  8. Bob. If you don't have the handbook you can download it from the Lexus website. My car is the facelift RC and amongst many other displays you can get ,or set up to get,a remaining range readout, you just need to scroll through the options.I managed to fiddle around with it to get it to display remaining range and current mpg.I guess your display should do the same.
  9. Well Bob,it looks like you have made the right choice. It hasn't taken you long to come to the same conclusion as me and probably most other RC owners.Yhe added benefit is you won't see many around. As for your near miss with the BMW, they're like ar5eholes-- everybody's got one.
  10. That's expensive and like here there doesn't seem to be much logic to the system. At least the roads are better maintained. When I drove over there in April,it was obvious which side of the border I was on.
  11. Agree with Andy.AAWireles works perfectly.Do not bother with a similar device from Carlinkit. It didn't work withAA and their customer service is non existent.Avoid like the plague.Other members have had similar problems with them.
  12. How does road/car tax work in Eire?
  13. Mine had frozen/jammed,but started working normally a few days ago.Interestingly, there is a warning message from Lexus that they are "experiencing some issues..". Perhaps someone at Lexus has bothered to actually try using it.
  14. Well that's quite a contrast..RC/GTR. A real beauty and the beast. You will find the RC a very relaxing car to drive-it's quiet, smooth ,economical and comfortable.Performance wise it is adequate. You may find it could change your driving style. Compared to the BMW conv. It is a much superior car(I had a 330d conv hire car whilst my RC was in for crash repair last year.It had a great, fast engine, but rattly and cheap interior). The GTR as you will know is phenomenally fast and brutal. Its acceleration in launch control is literally breathtaking, but parts of the drivetrain are pretty agricultural. Not for everyday driving but a real bargain for out and out performance. Good luck with the RC.
  15. Difficult but achievable. When I bought the spacesaver,It would only fit in the front boot and was well wrapped ,partly to keep it in place and partly to have something to wrap the punctured tyre.
  16. It should go in.. my wife and the AA got a large rear tyre off my Porsche into the car a few years ago,one of its numerous punctures .
  17. My 2020 model came with a shortened printed manual. The full version and similarly sized infotainment one are only on line available to download....And yes, they ramble on and on including the bleeding obvious like don't put your head in the microwave when it is working.
  18. I continue to be astounded by the number of people who don't read their manuals (or RTFM). Admittedly most of them are fairly heavy going, but it's small wonder that so many don't get the best out of their cars- or even operate them safely.
  19. Duggie's photos illustrate my point exactly (thanks Duggie).I was able to buy my spacesaver without the usual jack and superfluous items in the kit.Ordered lunchtime, delivered 8.30 am next day.
  20. The important thing to get right with spacesavers is to ensure there is adequate clearance from the brake calipers to the inner part of the wheel and between the tyre and bodywork..The correct spacesaver tyre/ wheel will bear no relation to the tyre it's is replacing.. especially the profile. As I suggested a few days ago, give Patrick at Carnoisseur a ring .
  21. I remember the 128 coupe well. I think the open door reversing technique was an early and unsuccessful attempt at parking sensors.
