  1. Our ice cream man was found lying on the floor of his van covered with hundreds and thousands. Police say that he topped himself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patient: 'Doc I can't stop singing The Green, Green Grass of Home' Dr: "That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome. " Patient: ' Is it common ? ' Dr: "It's not unusual." :D
  2. saw a bunch of chavs in burberry caps in a maxed Corsa pulled over by police on M40. Made my day :D
  3. I use a Road Angel 2 and it's excellent. I also have a Bel 950 as a reserve - this picks up radar signals of live cameras but I prefer Road Angel as it uses GPS - this makes it much quieter and no false alerts and this wonderful government of ours is planning to ban radar/laser based detectors soon. best advice is to pick a GPS based system (Road Angel, Snooper, Origin) etc. At the end of the day they will all save your licence.
  4. Yeah I did one a while back. It's actually quite easy as long as you grasp the ideas behind the v-model and how each level of design/ development links directly to an equivalent testing phase. You are then tested on some of the details of these phases via multiple choice if I remember correctly. Good luck
  5. Well, you've got to cheer yourself up somehow, what with the Toon doing so......now Shearer out with hernia, Owen back to his injured best, Luque out.....if it wasn't for those thicker-than-normal crossbars at St James, the Mackens might have done alright too! ← after 3-2 win over the mackems I am already cheered up :D
  6. Maybe changing from LS 430 to new model GS 430 in New year and was wondering how big the petrol tank is and also what range you can get on a long Motorway cruise?? I do a lot of long journeys and love the fact that LS with full tank will do London to Sheffield and back for example without needing to refuel. Thanks.
  7. that's what she tells you anyway :D the car is a lovely colour by the way.
  8. Don't think that the Lexus system can be retrofitted. The Tom Tom system actually has more features than the Lexus one but I have always preferred the fully integrated system rather than an aftermarket one - one less device to load up/switch on/place/charge up before I can set off.
  9. Good luck for the 4th. Remember when you move in that by law you have to run from room to room naked - beacuse it's your house and you bloody well can if you want to !! :D
  10. I have a very short attention span when it comes to cars so went through a phase of test driving a few others - Jag XJ, BMW X5 etc. Lovely cars but everytime I got back into the LS and wafted home silently I thought "what a bloody nice car this LS is" :) My trouble is I really like haggling with car sales bods so the outcome - probably going to get another LS or maybe a GS 430 next year.
  11. Merc quality is definitely on the up - it had sunk so low that Merc had to do something about it. However, if you get the chance sit in a new E class and then sit in a 1994 model to see a difference. Merc are still some way off the 1994 quality and engineering levels. In addition their dealers can be awful. In terms of looks I agree the new Mercs are very handsome. I saw a new CLK 320 CDI with body kit in dark blue and it was fabulous. However what really got me into Lexus (I used to be a BMW man) was the cost of options. I like automatic, sunroof, sat nav, leather, parking sensors, CD changer etc and these alone will add nearly 6K to the price of a 3 series. In other words the price of a brand new Fiat panda!!!
  12. After my allowance is taxed I spend 198 % :D However if I factor in the tax I would have been paying per month on a company car then it is 108% This is not really going to help in your discussions with your wife - sorry :P Also I don't have a wife so justification for any purchase is usually a pretty swift process....
  13. Assuming you don't want to upgrade PC, graphics card etc there are some simple things you can do to get the best from what you've got: 1) Update Graphics drivers - go to www.ATI.com and download latest drivers. 2) defragment your hard drive - right click on start button, choose explore and then right click the drive and choose properties. Now select Tools tab at the top and defragment. You will be amazed how much this helps pc performance. 3) whilst you are there do a disk cleanup and also uncheck the box that says "Allow Indexing Service" - surprisingly this can slow your PC down!
  14. You MUST put in a formal written complaint. If it does kick off you can prove you had made your company aware of the problem. 1 copy to company via registered post & 1 copy hand delivered to HR. 1 copy to the meathead - helps focus their mind 1 copy in sealed envelope delivered to yourself by registered post to prove you sent the original complaint. Additionally ask him to put his complaints about you in writing too - I suspect he won't be willing to. Also if it were me I'd approach the idiot when he has calmed down and tell him that he is out of order and should start acting like a human being and not a ***.
  15. My lovely V8 :D BTW - managed 36.8mpg on M25 other day at 60 mph :D :D :D
  16. Glad you enjoyed the high speed blast. Just wondering though... Funny how 120mph in Germany is completely safe but 120 mph here is the work of the devil. It would appear speed kills but only if it's British Speed..... Exactly what is the difference between a German 120 mph and a British one?? Perhaps speed doesn't kill but it's crap driving that does??? Shame the old GATSOs don't spot that one though....
  17. The 330D/cD is a great car. There are a few things to look out for though : 1) Steering couplings can loosen and rattle - at slow speed turn drive left or right over raised kerb/speedbump. If the steering jiggles then the coupling may need replacing. 2) Lower suspension ball joints - many 3 series have loose joints that need repairing. Find a speed hump and drive over it - if loose you will hear a knock from underneath the car. Otherwise a great car.
  18. already on my list to Santa Claus next year :D
  19. Driven several IS200s recently. First one was less than 2000 miles and today's had 15000+. Couldn't believe the difference - older one was free revving, smooth, quieter and used less petrol.
