  1. What "scheme" would that be Malc? Does it have a name like "screwuall", or is it somewhere on the web where I could find it like " evilschemesutd.com" ? The problem gentlemen is you are obviously unhappy with the level of premiums in the market and are going to that dark place in your minds where it's all a conspiracy. The reality is our Insurance Industry really is free market economics . Don't compete and you are toast.
  2. Me too. I only wanted to find where the brakes are on my car.
  3. "greedy cartel". Here is the reality; Being involved in a cartel and participating in illegal price fixing is prohibited by competition law in the UK and considered an offence under the Competition Act 1998 and the Enterprise Act 2002. Other than that I was clapping at the point that you really ought not to be making something necessary by law without at least putting into place a mechanism that supports those least able to comply. Very good point and I would support it.
  4. Well if that's all he paid I am reducing my offer to all you can eat of my wifes baking for a period of just 2 weeks.
  5. Prefer mine free from Lewis Hamilton in exchange for my autograph. Alternative reality ,it came with the car.
  6. I wouldn't call you names . Just deluded.😉 Seriously if you wish to have an argument based upon accountancy let's do it. However, don't construct partial arguments that I can drive a bus through such as " +10% for labour for example, you can't increase the price +60% on the basis of labour costs". Moreover, if you have assumed that is what I was saying you just did not read what I said carefully enough. Labour costs are just one piece of the multi faceted reasons why premiums are rising and indeed are probably not the most significant part of the issue. Do I need to make any further clarification? If I sound tecthy it's because I really do not like being 'quoted' when I am being misquoted. So, if you are going to quote me please do me the courtesy of being accurate.
  7. Advise you cut and paste this over to the SC430 for sale chat. We regularly pore over stuff for sale in that thread. Uncle Bob will give you some good ideas I think.
  8. Might be dead bodies. I know I watched the wrong film before bed last night.
  9. Ok, bringing out the big guns. An all you can eat for a month of my wife's homemade baking !!!
  10. I bought a car cover for the SC 430, but it isn't in use that much. I found it led to condensation (so much for breathability). Hence, I got into the habit of taking it off very regularly and drying off the car. I would still use it selectively, but not in any continuous sense. In fact, the instructions that come with it do advise taking it off once a week.
  11. I suspect the Turks will do the best Insurance for you. Google Kebabs ToGo.
  12. Somebody should be selling tyres for over 70's with 3mm tread! I mean do we really need 6mm?
  13. We know the tyres will last 25k, but the jury's still out on the driver.😉
  14. Throttle controller w/free OBDII scan tool | SC430Mods
  15. And 'spendoolies' is important stuff for planners like me. I know I will be bust and outside Waitrose with a bowl and 3 legged mutt in exactly 991.65 years.
  16. The irony hey. Anyone at Toyota awake to it, probably not.
  17. The SC430 is usually cited approx 6.2 secs 0 to 60 although I think it is probably quicker than that with the throttle controller engaged so may be 6 secs. With me driving about 10 secs.
  18. I remember when i was looking for the XK I came across an Ad from a guy who was selling ,because he could not drive the jag for more than 10 mins. Just too uncomfortable for him. He said he was 6 ft 4 ins and essentially there was not enough leg room ,or head room. I was sceptical of it at the time thinking is he selling quickly because the car is a 'dog'. Now I have one i can see his issue to be genuine. I have the car in the position on maximum extension for leg room and it is ok for me, but there again I am only just over 6 ft not 6 ft 4ins.! Likewise I have the seat set nearly to max for height with the wheel just dropped slightly. Head room is ok, not cramped, but if I was 4 inches taller I bet I would be polishing the head liner. Came across Head Adaptive Support in the manual. Basically, in the event of impact the head rest is supposed to move forwards and upwards to reduce the amount of room your head can move on impact thus reducing the whiplash effect! Ooh !! Shall try very hard not to put this feature to the test. Concerned about petrol consumption. The trip reading suggest an average of just 15mpg giving a range of 200 miles (ish) per tank! Now if that is right it won't be staying long. When I researched this I believed the Av was not dissimilar to the SC 430 25 ish. Looked up the review data on the car and it agreed with that figure. So, not sure if the car is just still using the previous owners commute data which I suppose could be low given he was crossing Manchester a couple of times a day at peak hour. I will reset the Trip function and keep a watch over the next couple of tanks. Alternatively, plan my trips and advertise on facebook for trip sharing ! 😉 Not really ,but there is a line I wouldn't be interested in crossing for economy in a V8, or any car, and 15 to the gallon is the wrong side of that line. When I was looking for the above data I came across a very detailed independent perfomance review. Based upon that and my short driving experience the XK is faster on the acceleration than the SC 430. I can certainly believe the 0 to 60 in 5.7 secs. As an aside though at my age do I really care very much about that extra bit of humph? Indeed, do my driving skills ,or attitude to driving at speed even come into play to take advantage of it? I doubt it. Mat cleaning day. I like the condition of the carpet and mats in the car in terms of pile and wear. What I don't like is the mats imparticular are filthy. So, scrubbing brush, soapy water, and power washer here I come.
  19. Quick question. When it's been standing was it under canvas?
  20. The intermittent nature of the issue makes me think electrical connection and either damp affecting the connection, or a loose connection though less likely methinks. I guess you are going to have to drive the car a bit more and observe what if anything happens and is there any kind of pattern in the behaviour
  21. Lets wait for the shot of the exhaust system on the bed !. Fast forward to divorce proceedings and the court hearing from his wife 'that's one emission too far'.
  22. Most of what we would really like to know financially is not really available to us anyway. I don't think any serious economist puts much faith in the economic data released in China. They have to try and find ways around it to get at something they can find credible. For example, do you find Chinas economic output credible if you also look at their energy consumption numbers. In other words you try to cross check for validity.
