ABT, you've been ill informed. <_< If you're serious about lowering your car, you can use lowering springs or go the whole hog and get adjustable coilovers, and go as low as you want. If you're interested, Mat (SuprachargesIS340) is selling his Eibach lowering springs, And you'll not get much better than those. B) At £100 for the set, that's a bargain... see EIBACH SPRINGS FOR SALE

Zee, Sorry mate I have to disagree, if your really serious about getting more BHP out of the car then change the brakes. They are very very good on the standard car but when you start upping the BHP you really notice the difference with specialist brakes and pads on the car. I bought the car with the styling kit on as I wanted it to look right straight away, the window tints were done afterwards. I started on the suspension and the handling of the car first as this seemed a more sensible place to start then went on to the engine. I would definitely reccomend the HKS Coilovers, suspension bushes, anti roll bars and the strut brace as a starting point, then how about some nice big wheels to fill those arches? Then head off for the supercharger, manifold, induction kit, stage 1 and 2 boost upgrade and nitrous for the really brave. I also use the car for client visits etc which is why I opted for the coilovers as they are fully adjustable, I can stiffen / soften & raise and lower the ride height quite easily if necessary. Cheers Si

I've been reading the K-MAC website looking for further info. See http://www.k-mac.com.au/ According to this, K-MAC make springs to any height requested, as well as offering fully adjustable coilovers. If you're NOT using adjustable coilovers, is there a chance you have two springs of different height fitted? Seems extremely unlikely, but might be worth a check.
-
Stephenc I notice you use the term "Lowered coils" rather than springs. Are you using an adjustable coilover suspension? On my coilover suspension you can adjust the ride height at each wheel. B) Therefore it is possible to have the car at different heights left and right. :duh: Unless you're a NASCAR driver or drive one way on the M25 for a living, surely having different heights is a setup mistake? Did you fit them yourself, are your coilovers adjustable, and have you tried adjusting them on level ground? If someone else fitted them, I think you need to think about kicking their R's. I'd also recommend you get a full wheel/suspension alignment check done.

How Good Are Stock Shocks And New Springs
Monster-Mat replied to HK_Altezza's topic in Brakes & Suspension
yeah.....know what you mean....my fronts are still out,ive had the car lazer aligned several times, but i still am wearing the inside edge,im rotating the two fronts..tommorow when i get the new rears fitted,i actually think the IS2 has a problem with front geometry,i seem to remember a few posts on here from standered cars wearing the fronts only on the inside......hopefully when i get coilovers fitted i can sort this problem once and for all -
Randy, that's great that you found out what was causing your little problem.. I myself had a problem after I bought my rims... For some reason when I went over 40mph that car would shake, I had to get the rims rebalanced and realigned and I still had the shakes... What the problem was were that the rims were not hub-symmetric and I needed centering rings to put on the inside of each rim so they'd fit tight against the hubs... I drove around like that for almost a month... But now I learned my lesson and my GS rides smooth again.. Well not that smooth since I have 20" rims and coilovers...

If your going to drop it and change the shocks why not just go straight for coilovers? You can alter the ride height and damper settings at your leisure! Cheers Si

GS Sport??? What's that?? I'm in the States and the only thing we have is the GS300 SportDesign... And that's the GS that I just bought... On the SportDesign in the States the suspension consists of the L-Tuned Struts and regular factory springs.. There's no extra drop, it's the same as anyother stock GS.. But the suspension is alittle tighter.. It was not tight enough for me so the Struts/Springs are now sitting in my garage.. And I replaced them with a set of Tein "FLEX" Coilovers... Now I handles like a champ.. If you look at my sig on the bottom of my post you'll see the drop that I gave my GS... And it's not a terrible ride considering they're coilovers.. I got alot of pics of my car if any of you want to see it..
-
Just like to know what sort of drop is on this car, is it a 30mm Eibach or coilovers?? Anyone?? lexus gallary
-
I think it's superchargermorph's car, looks like it's on springs but could be coilovers
-
I've got HKS Coilovers on mine and they are fantastic and totally adjustable, they are cerainly worth paying that bit more for. Si
-
My car is not lowered (apart from the standard 15mm sport spec) yet, but I think the 30mm Eibachs are fine. I would definately recommend coilovers though if you want any more than 30mm. Mat (supercharged_Is200) and Kieron (dark_Is200) are the people to talk to about coilovers. They are well worth it if can afford them.
-
Far enough that the rumble from the tailpipes at idle induces an immediate 'i want it' :) Had 19" (but very heavy) wheels, coilovers and tte front bumper. Bit tatty close up but then it's a test mule and it doesn't matter when you know what it is
-
TTE coilovers on the way then mat

If you fit 30mm lowering springs all round the car will still retain it's slightly biased forward stance. 30mm is a good start off; it's the lowest recommended with springs only. If you want to go lower you will need to get coilovers. Remember when you lower, that if you want to change your wheels this shall affect things also. This link will help for that. http://www.teamlexus.co.uk/forums/viewthread.php?tid=320

I am thinking about having the TTE lowering springs fitted to my IS before I pick it up and I noticed that on the TTE website it says that they lower the car 30mm. I am right in thinking that the IS200 sport is a tiny bit lower than the S and SE? If so would it still make my Sport 30mm lower? In your opinion guys, is it worth fitting the springs or saving up and fitting some TTE coilovers? Bearing in mind that I don't drive that hard and it is mainly for looks:cool: Also, my Lexus dealer looked blank at me when I said the letters "TTE" so where is the best place to order them from? Will they invalidate any warranty if I have them fitted by Lexus? [Edited on 19-4-2002 by andyhart21]

Are you sure these are for an IS200, some (e.g. coilovers) are universal but as far as I can tell the engine parts are all for the Altezza, there is no mention on the HKS website www.hks-power.co.jp of any engine tuning products for the IS200, its all for the Altezza with 3S-GT engine. The products you mention have all been available from TDI for a long time now but again, under the Altezza section http://www.tdi-plc.com/altezza.html not the IS200 section http://www.tdi-plc.com/is200.html Searching for part number 1508-ST001 gives: http://216.239.37.100/search?q=cache:WtAml...508+ST001&hl=en http://relax.on.arena.ne.jp/altezza/tuneim...er/hks_cleaner/ Both of which seem to be the 4 cylinder Japanese spec. cars, could be wrong with the above but its probably worth checking.

i can get the TTE stuff..............u2u me TDI,sell the spring,id suggest you also invest in some antiroll bars aswell,to benifit from the lowered effect, less body roll and better suspension control do you really need coilovers, they are a big difference ,handling wiseand they need to be set up correctly.....i had full race systems fitted to my rover 325 lb springs front!!!! sh!t the suspension didnt move, but on the glass surfaces it stuck like glue, then on the bumpy bits suffered from the most horrendous bump steercouldnt get traction in the wet either the car would just lift..............look around at different kits, ive done lots of coilover kit reviews in the reviews section on the main page "a coilover system is for life, not just for posing" reviews section link http://www.teamlexus.co.uk/html/modules.ph...iews&file=index mat [Edited on 20-4-2002 by superchargedIS200]

So would the eibach springs still only lower my car another 15mm? If so I think I will save up for some coilovers. Just out of interest though, where do you get the eibach springs from in the UK?
-
TTE springs are made by Eibach,so as tony said go for the eibach...............i will be selling mine sometimebut not untill ive saved enough for the HKS coilovers, and top mounts mat
-
there are many suspension systems out there springs, dampers and coilover(spring and damper in one) for springs alone your looking at a anything +/- £200,these will lower your car anywhere between 20/35 /possibly even 40 mm coilovers cost anything from £2000 + but these will lower the car all the way down to 80mm
