  2. I quite like this one but I would look stupid in it.
  3. I haven’t performed any updates (iOS 17.4.1 on iPhone 14 Pro) and the Siri text read back has been working for the last couple of weeks. It was previously not working on 17.4.1 and I haven’t been able to update the car either as it is no longer offering the 2050 update to me. I am assuming that the issue was a server side one at either Apple or Lexus and they’ve updated something which has corrected it as it has been flawless now it is working
  4. I used one when I first got my LS but the quality was poor so I soon opted for a Bluetooth>FM adapter but even that wasn't good enough. The BlueMusic module is perfect for playing music in the car and at that price is very good value. I did consider a VAIS or a full Android replacement for the SatNav screen, but they are both quite pricey and don't add enough functionality for me to consider them worth the extra cost.
  5. Thanks Anthony for the thrilling special final chapter - an excellent read! The only fitting end will be a sale and you can then publish the whole story leather bound in hardback. All the best!

  7. Can anyone recommend a 17inch tyre for my CT200h? The ride is definitely firm compared to my previous car, any tyres that will improve my ride quality and also give good mpg. Currently my car is on some mid range tyre called Sunny and the roar it produces from these tyres are unbearable. Was leaning towards Primacy 4 or Crossclimate 2 but would love to hear your thoughts on the tyres
  8. Hi Folks, My NX shocked me the second time with the Brake Power Low warning, all the Dash lights came on, it was an array of warnings, there were a couple more about collision detection failure etc, captured the four pics (attached): The first time this occurred, I took it to a Lexus dealer for diagnosis. They could not pick anything, cleared the codes and advised me to contact them again if the problem recurred. When it happened first time, my car ran fine after a few minutes of stop/start. Today, the same behaviour, I stopped the car for a couple of minutes, full off/on and it was back on the road. I might have done approximately 600 odd miles since it last happened over a month ago. During these occurrences, the car brakes lost power (as the dash warning says) and it required much more force on the pedals to slow/stop the car - it is a scary situation, especially as it happened twice during peak traffic times. Has this occurred to you or can someone shed some light on the already full-lit Dashboard please🙂 before I book another appointment? Lexus dealer is miles away but have a Toyota dealer much closer - not sure if they will check this one. Please share your thoughts. Thank you.
  9. To be honest the one I bought direct from China was identical. However I have bought a lot of mods from Calvin and appreciate all he does and am willing to support him in his business. What you can say if you buy things from him they will work and if they don’t he will refund you straight away. I think where his strength is to develop unique products and solutions for the SC community. We are very lucky to have someone who is as enthusiastic about our cars as he is.
  10. Er Has nobody noticed? It's been like the wild west for years in the UK. With no effective government or control it's just gone to the dogs. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. There's still hope - get a good job installing security and then take the money and run. I am not joking. Portugal seems nice??
  11. That’s precisely what I did on more than one occasion!
  12. Pop the rubber grommet out will stop it pooling for now . Look at resealing the rubber seal below the rear windows ..inside and out . Also inspect rear 1/4 window seals as it joins the roof seal.
  13. Blue always a good colour for a project 😉 wheels with the wide rims look great 👍🏻
  14. Couple of points - a new RX is exactly the same in terms of touchscreen, bongs and the like. I think you would have to get a previous generation one to avoid them. Initially I felt the same re the bongs but as John says you turn them down ! - and get used to them you can turn them off but it is a bit of a faff Can you remember if the battery display also showed the %. If it didn’t then it has not had the update that has made all the difference in terms of range, particularly with the aircon / heating on Eco - seems to reduce range by about 10 miles out of 220. Rear screen, heated seats, radio and the like have no real effect on range. The radiant heaters are effective and again gave little effect on actual range. If it has had the update, the range is a forecast on the basis of previous drives so it will dive if previous drives have ‘gone for it’ Sorry if the above seems a bit defensive but after a year and importantly the update, I have now think the upsides outweigh the downsides - but I am not a road warrior.
  15. Alex, 4 hours of cheap elecricity charges my car to about 80%. I don't do long journeys every day any more, so that suits me fine as 2 nights of charging takes me up to 100% even with daily trips to the local shops. Interestingly, I did a longer journey today and now the weather has warmed up I achieved 48.2 miles on EV alone, up from 39 or 40 miles in the cooler weather.
  16. Thanks for the early replies and welcome, Ive still got my full steering covered disk locks which I last used on my classic car, as for my Ux and LBX I have fitted trackers but I think I will go down the EOBD plug relocation and fit a dummy plug in the EOBD plug position which will be cheaper than £1000 for 2 CAN immobiliser systems plus Lexus can't knock back any warranty issue as Ive not interfered with the cars system Ian
  17. Don't assume it's the fuel cap I'm sure P0420 can be several things , the tiniest exhaust leak near to the cats can cause this code .
  18. Thanks for extra info Kev. Yes, my wing mirrors fold in but I have not tested the other functions. As an update, I stripped the driver’s side mirror and swapped the motors over between L/R and U/D to check whether it was a motor or switch/wiring issue. Turns out one of the motors was unresponsive, but I sprayed it internally as best I could with DWF and it came back to life. So all-told a fairly simple job, although I spent quite a long time trying to work out how to remove the mirror housing without breaking any of the securing tabs. Hopefully the passenger side can be resolved in the same way.
  19. Make sure you get an insurance quote before you commit to an RX4.
  20. It isn't just polos, astras and granddad's or whatever they call them, are courtesy cars...2 years ago some dope drove into the back of my RC and I got a BMW 430d convertible. What a pile of do do ! It rattled ,the cheap plastics squeaked and looked awful. Its one and only saving grace was the 3 ltr diesel engine.. pretty fast ..no wonder the Police use them.
  21. Well it seems that my Tesco renewal amount is very competitive. Chris Knott would price match -5% , and NFU were £150 more. So i think I'll bite the bullet and go with Tesco. It will be interesting to see if prices do come down once the fabled security enhancement appears - lexus are still dodging giving an available date for this!! My dealer has heard nothing to date. Just emailed CR again to see if there is any update. They really are being useless at resolving this.
  22. I had this on my 2014 RX. It affects more cars fitted with roof rails than not, a clue perhaps to the cause? Mine was diagnostic checked after I tried all the usual fixes, including Herbie's fix. I got it working for a few days and it packed up for good. In the end, the roof lining had to come off and the problem was discovered. Moisture seeps through, it seems, from the roof rail fixings (where fitted) and eventually builds up in the power control board, shorting it out. If only a little builds up, the tailgate will often start working again for a while but left in this state with moisture getting through, it will eventually fail. It's a design or manufacturing defect as far as i'm aware and ought really to be fixed under warranty. I had mine done after warranty when presenting Lexus with a reasoned argument so had to pay nothing to have the motor board replaced. Apparently the motor has burned out too although the odd thing is that it worked intermittently prior to replacement. That. too was replaced under warranty.
  23. Probably an easy peasy task making it so complicating. If they don't I will get my insurer to deal with it. It's a brand new 73plate.
  24. As an exercise I think someone once put a price on building a car from scratch using the parts prices. If I remember right the cost was enormous. One check I made a while ago Standard plugs for an ISF £14 from a specialist, BMW M3 £25, Big Motorcycle £7. You can go mad and buy special ones for £25plus.
  25. I have moved from a 2009 Volvo XC90 to a 2024 RX450+ and having just completed my first longer trip I feel like I’ve been propelled forward from the stone age into the modern era. Overall I love the car; it’s so quiet and smooth and I love the adaptive cruise. I did however find the steering inputs and frequent beeps and alerts more distracting than helpful at times. Some examples are driver attention alerts when I’m looking at the road but it thinks I’m not. E.g rubbed my face with my hand. Others included not seeing a way to dismiss the take a break suggestion which kept flashing up on the hud (prompted I think by me approaching the centre line on twisty roads?) or pushing me back towards a fallen branch I was trying to steer round on a country lane. Do you just get used to the inputs after a while or have others adjusted settings to find the right level of support? If so, how have you amended the settings? I’m aware some settings reset every start up, so it would be great to know what you’ve changed permanently and what you do each time you start up to get the right balance. If the answer is “you’ll get used to it” then so be it! I’m also aware the systems are designed to improve safety so am keeping that in mind. I couldn’t see another thread on this but if there is an older thread that covers it please could someone direct me to it. Thanks in advance David
  26. Try holding the unlock button on the fob for 5 seconds, then do the same with the lock button. Apparently that will reset the central locking.
