  2. Yes, I agree. I haven't managed too many long runs but on motorways it basically drives itself 😀
  3. This had to be done by the dealership for my NX350h. They go into the car setup menus with their diagnostic equipment.
  4. Hi guys deep cleaning my car I noticed that my 2010 f sport has the heated windscreen element in place, made me think that the wiring is already in place for that and that it probably could be retrofitted. Has anyone managed to do this? I haven’t pulled apart those dash buttons but I had a BSM retrofit planned so I thought it might be an idea to throw that in also
  5. This was my LS460 I sold in 2018, I now have a LS500h Premier equally outstanding. I can understand your wish to find the right one for you. There are still a few about that will meet your criteria I'm sure.
  6. Today
  7. Thank you for your post, good info 🙂 Quick couple of questions: - Any chance you can PM me where you purchased it from? I also want to buy it - Have you noticed any difference to the ML sound system quality? I've got a late 2013 Premier with ML and never been impressed with the sound system, I suspect its because the bluetooth codec is the older one with less bandwidth, i'm hoping getting roadtop would also improve this due to upgrading the bluetooth version.
  8. I dont know what size of AC hoses are in 460, but I really believe it should be the same. If you open the hood, just find the place with AC refill valve (it's under one plastic big cover on driver side - my car is LHD). There you see 2 AC hoses which comes to rear AC, one is thinner one is fatter. In my situation, the faulty one was the thinner one. So I just took the "caliper" (I dont know if google did well translation, but I mean the device which allows you to measure the pipe diameter in milimeters) and measure the thinner hose next to the AC refill valve (I didn't need to lay below the car to measure it:P ) and it was 8mm pipe - diameter was the same on the whole pipe lenght - I had it broken over the tank So I bought 8mm pipe, pipe bender has range 6-8-10mm, pipe cutter range 3-22mm and connector was strictly on 8mm diameter and it's lenght was 36mm but it's doesnt matter how long it is, because you insert aluminium pipe as long and you want to. connection specitifaction here (but it's in polish, you need to translate the website) https://climatools.pl/pl/p/Zlacze-proste-skrecane-do-naprawy-rurek-8mm/3958 in additional - I forgot to mention it - I has to use pack of broken bolts sockets', because screws which holds plastic cover from the bottom were rusty as hell and I couldn't unscrew it. like this PS. After almost 2 months, AC is still tight, no leak, everything works fine, driving on AC all the time - so if you don't want to spend thousands of money on replacing rear AC pipes this way is very recommended by me:) and rear fridge rocks 😄
  9. Some insurers see it as a modification and it increases the costs of repair should a panel need repainting. There have been reports of insurance being refused.
  10. When Toyota announced yesterday it was ceasing delivery of certain models due to the ‘safety certification scandal’ it included a Lexus model. Trawling the web I came across an article saying it was the 4th generation RX. There is no concern over the cars themselves it seems, like dieselgate, Japanese manufacturers rigged the certification process - seems to be the passenger safety and pedestrian alerting systems are not quite as good as reported.
  11. I’ve just read that it’s the 4th generation RX
  12. Lexus’s commitment to providing the best possible ownership experience for its customers reaches every aspect of its business, including the development of new insurance products. Lexus Insurance Services has designed two new cover packages specifically for owners of the all-electric RZ 450e and the all-new hybrid LBX compact crossover that offer refund and renewal discount opportunities linked to driving performance. Moving on from the one-size-fits all concepts, the company has tailored these new products to complement its policyholders’ driving styles It has also increased their value proposition by making rewards available, in addition to the comprehensive benefits that are included in all Lexus insurance policies. RZ 450e mileage-based insurance Lexus has introduced its first mileage-based insurance with a product that’s designed specifically for the RZ 450e and which offers the potential for an end-of-year refund. The amount of refund is specific to each individual and is calculated by comparing the policyholder’s declared miles and the actual distance they cover during the policy term. The mileage is accurately monitored (with the owner’s consent) via the car’s data communications module (DCM). This is a standard feature on all new vehicles, so no additional hardware has to be fitted. When purchasing the insurance, the customer declares the mileage they forecast they will travel in their RZ in the next 12 months and this is factored into the cost of the premium. At the 11th month of the insurance period, the total for the whole year is calculated; if this is less than the declared mileage, a refund is calculated based on what the insurance premium would have been using the lower mileage figure. Full details and terms and conditions are available at www.lexus.co.uk/insurance/rz. LBX Hybrid Insurance Lexus’s LBX Hybrid Insurance is a new kind of cover for an all-new model. It provides all the established benefits of Lexus vehicle insurance but with opportunity for private customers to receive a discount of up to 10 per cent* on their renewal premium, based on the distance they cover driving in their car’s pure electric EV mode during the policy year. As with the new RZ insurance (see above), the car’s DCM allows for remote monitoring of the car, in this case the miles travelled in EV mode. When the time comes for the policy to be renewed, the EV distance is used to calculate the discount the policyholder may be eligible for on their renewal premium. This can be up to a maximum of 10 per cent, equivalent to a minimum of 57 per cent of the total mileage monitored having been covered in EV mode. Policyholders can monitor their performance using the Lexus Link+ app. This shows in clear graphics the mileage and percentage of driving in EV mode and the discount expected to be available when their Lexus Insurance policy falls for renewal. The policy period dates are also clearly shown. Full details and terms and conditions are available at www.lexus.co.uk/insurance/lbx-hybrid-insurance. Lexus insurance benefits All Lexus insurance products provide the peace of mind and convenience of a 24-hour emergency claims helpline; the guarantee of Lexus genuine parts* being used for repairs, with work carried out by approved repairers and protecting any existing warranties; and automatic courtesy car cover**, provided by an approved repair centre and with the customer’s insurance cover automatically transferred to the vehicle. In addition, if a claim is made for an accident that is not the customer’s fault and where the driver of the other vehicle is uninsured, there is no loss of no claim discount and no requirement to pay any excess. More information can be found at www.lexus.co.uk/insurance/car-insurance. * Excluding windscreen/glass replacement. ** Subject to availability.
  13. I did...i bought a wire pulling kit on amazon especially for this it still didnt help. The main issue was even with that method the connectors / plugs on the chinese loom were broad and since there were 3- 4 of them, they would get stuck mid way and i had to put my hand in there to pull it through. But depending on your factory head unit you might have fewer connectors. I think the premium nav headunits have fewer connectors. I have a 2014 executive so mine came with the knob and it had 3 or 4 connectors that needed to be plugged into the head unit plus the sockets for the 3 -4 factory wires to plug into. Also attaching an image of what i mean by it didn't fit properly as you can see it was meant to slot under the top part of the dash but it sticks out a bit. But seems like this is specific to the brand i purchased and a nunoo unit should be good.
  14. Have you tried putting some wire as a guide? I saw videos where people have used a wire to guide the parts through this tight space. See here for example. Not sire how helpful it would be in that narrow space.
  15. Yes - just got a PM from another member - sad to learn he passed away😢
  16. FT 3rd June 2024 For those having trouble accessing this article- What is worse for a carmaker’s reputation: rigging emissions tests or collision safety tests? A Japanese government investigation has found that Toyota Motors falsified data and skirted impact-safety tests for seven past and current vehicles, adding to the scandal engulfing the automaker. A decade after rival Volkswagen’s emissions scandal, where it admitted fitting cars with devices to help beat official tests, its reputation has yet to fully recover. Safety, you would think, is of more immediate interest to the drivers of cars on the road than emissions data. And for Toyota, this widening controversy puts at risk a key opportunity to capture market share around the world. Japan’s transport ministry said on Monday that Toyota submitted faulty data during pedestrian-safety tests for three current models, and used modified test vehicles for collision-safety tests for some past models. Toyota admitted it had provided inadequate data in occupant and pedestrian protection tests for some models including one sold under the Lexus luxury brand. It has temporarily halted shipments and sales of three cars made in Japan. This is a reputational nightmare. The latest findings come soon after other similar scandals. In January, Toyota Industries Corp suspended all engine shipments after an investigation revealed it had falsified power-output figures. Last year, its wholly owned subsidiary Daihatsu was found to have distorted collision safety test results, dating back as far as 1989. In 2022 another subsidiary, Hino Motors, said it had systematically falsified emissions data, dating back as far as 2003. This latest scandal has hit after Toyota posted a record profit for the year to March driven by an unexpected surge in its hybrid car sales. It reaped the rewards of its reputation as a hybrid pioneer: nearly 40 per cent of its sales in April were petrol-electric hybrids. Awkwardly, the company uses its safety features — including its pre-collision detection and driver-assist systems which it markets as features designed to protect drivers and passengers — as key selling points for its cars. Toyota shares are down 14 per cent from a March peak. Yet even after the decline, its shares trade at more than 10 times forward earnings, at nearly triple the valuation of German rival VW. Its troubles don’t appear to be over yet. Officials will be carrying out an onsite investigation of Toyota’s headquarters this week. There is a limit to how often a company can pledge to tighten oversight before it loses credibility with investors and customers alike.
  17. Well would you believe it? https://www.ft.com/content/828110d5-056d-4bad-9d6a-1b9cca1a5ba3 Wonder which Lexus model they refer to.
  18. In this video they start with the spaceframe (but in another Ferrari/Toyota build they show construction of the spaceframe without jigs and crudely formed and finished parts are made.) This video with a lot of adverts, majors on the body and associated parts plus fitting the engine and mechanicals in what looks like a back yard! Although speeded up it's still a long video so I scrolled through a bit. Something rather fascinating and somewhat like a more basic version of those programmes on specialist American Custom Shops. Anyway, for anyone interested makes a change from the few Lexus problems we see here.
  19. So, the battery didn't charge. The charger had an error message. The error reads: either the charging was interrupted or the battery is damaged and can't be charged. Said to reset and restart the charging, which I just did. So far no errors. Let's see if it finishes charging. Yesterday, while it was hooked to the charger, locking and unlocked worked again and the dash lit up. I didn't try to start the engine. In the evening, once I saw it was stuck because of the error, I unhooked the charger. This morning, dead again! Had to use the physical key again to unlock and open the hood. Then when I connected the charger, it started this siren. The most annoying noise. I never heard it before. Normally the alarm is the horn. It was coming from the rear wheel location. In the UK, the driver's side rear wheel. I disconnected the battery fully and the siren raged on. I guess it must have its own battery. Is this a secondary anti-theft alarm? Now, the options seem to be: 1. Charging got interrupted or a charger glitch. 2. The battery after so many recharges because of the alternator wasn't working properly needs replacement. But should it have happened if it was driving ok after the alternator was repaired? I would have thought if this was the problem it wouldn't recharge at all after the alternator was repaired? 3. The alternator repair is bad and the alternator is not working again and it damaged the battery. I hope this is not it. Because if I take it back again, they could just find an excuse and say the problem is caused by something else, just to charge me again. Fix the alternator again at my expense instead of honoring the warranty and I would never know. 4. Something very bad is going on and is damaging alternators and eating them for lunch? What do you guys think? I like the car. One of the best driving dailies i ever ever owned. But man, no other car I have ever owned has given me as much headaches and I have owned Ssangyong, Vauxalls and French cars.
  20. I'm not certain my car 'heals' I think it must need extra vitamins or something! I have something called 'Club Smartguard Cosmetic and Alloys' - has anyone experienced this? Apparently they will come to the house and 'repair' up to 10 small areas of damage for £30.00 - up to 3 times during the cover period. I think the time has come to call on it!
  21. How long would a mass fitted immobiliser take to bypass? It’s a waste of time.
  22. Welcome back ! "royoftherovers" has not been since April 2023 - he used to be a regular here
  23. An hour or so drive this weekend and no probs, so hopefully fixed. Ironically the lead I have put in feels cheap and the one I have taken out is a short thick braided type. And CD's definitely superior quality but try telling my daughter that🤣
  24. In a 2007 RX400h, I have had "Check Hybrid System" error, which lead to car not getting "Ready" to drive. It turns out there was a pool of water under HV battery. Yet to find the source of water.
