Off for second drive tomorrow but girlfriend is coming this time. Think only thing stopping me from putting deposit down so far are the few little stones chips, scratched window etc but I know these are all simple fixes so hopefully second drive will make my mind up

Phil, its Dave from seloc. Good to chat the other day.

you wont regret getting an isf I'm certain. As I said its the opposite of our lotuses but for me that's what I wanted.

makes me enjoy the lotus all the more when I drive it. Steering feel and amazing brakes. But then the Lexus has that noise...

After an interesting few days I thought I would add a comment re tyres.

So far, I have used OEM bridgestones, Michelin Pilot Alpine winter tyres and the above mentioned sessantas, which came to me nearly new on a set of wheels I bought from another member of the forum. The refurbished wheels are great, the tyres less so.

In the dry they are not too bad though they break away more easily than either the bridgestones or the michelins. In the wet they are crap. No other way to describe it, seriously lacking grip.

So, do your research and decide what's important to you. I certainly won't be buying another set when these wear out, which frankly, they way they spin, won't be long.

Interesting. Maybe I need push harder as I don't have any issues with them but not had any others on the car to compare against.

I never get front and back on any of my cars to wear out at same time! Still on oem bridgstones which have been fine including my track day recently. Never sure how hard I push but I suspect sometimes I am going quite fast without noticing. Easy to do when both cars are sub 4.5 to 60. I use avons on the lotus for track work but that's a different story...

Phil: Did you take the plunge on the IS-F?

Stu: what kinda mileage do you get on your Vredestein's before they need replacing?

I switched to the 275 rears and 245 fronts as suggested elsewhere on here a year ago and rears are almost gone at only 12k miles :(

IS-F alloys hold up pretty well, I've an '08 and a few minor scuffs/stone chips but when cleaned up they look excellent. The only thing to watch out for is the brake dust bed-in which most will suffer from caused by super hot dust embedding into the wheel edges on the fronts. Nothing you can do to remove other than full refurb.

Hope you make the plunge soon and join the IS-F dark side :) keep us posted.

It's pretty stress free motoring at least in my experience. I've had nothing go wrong other than wear and tear. The V8 is bullet proof and they really do age well. It's such an understated benefit of Lexus/japanese car ownership at times.
