Which have CVT, and which have the 6sp auto

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My wife likes my IS250.

However we were recently in Dublin, and took a taxi ride in an immaculate, cream leather  GS300 from the airport into town.

It was a 2008 GS300, used as a taxi for the past 4 years, and it was in showroom condition, with 232k km on the clock, I was truly amazed at the condition.

My question,

Which years have the traditional auto boxes, and which years have the CVT boxes.

I would prefer she get the traditional 6sp auto.

Thanks all

Agreed. This is my first exposure to this type of automatic transmission, coming from the common brake-band/clutch type. The eCVT is so smooooth, then add the artificially created ratios in Sport mode, best of both worlds.

Plus must be more reliable, easily maintained considering there's no engaging, disengaging  of cogs or friction bands
