Dash Rattle

I’ve started noticing a rattle on the passenger side dash area when going over uneven/potholed roads, it sounds similar to a marble in a plastic cup🤔🤔

Unsure if it’s behind the vent or behind the wood effect trim above the glove box.

How do these pieces come off to inspect behind?

Hi Russ

Sorry to hear that, it would drive me crazy too!

Let's hope your problem is not the wood because it screws on from behind and you need to remove the dash!

Can you get someone to have a ride out with you to locate exactly where it's from and if a push or pull of anything effects it?

Good luck, Ant 🐜

Hi Ant

It is annoying, my missus prods around and listens to locate the noise but she’s useless (about as much use as a chocolate fire guard)😏😏

I keep meaning to get some trim removal tools.

Hi Russ

Lexiguy Junior bought me a set of trim removal tools last Christmas and I have used them alot.

If you fancy a run up to Holmfirth we could have a listen and a go at finding and curing it. Including free use of removal tools!

Ok make, Wattsapp me and we can sort a day. Ant 🐜

There should be extra club credit for a workshop mini-meet. It will require pics of course.🙂

That would not be a problem Neil, we could open the visit to Meltham, near Holmfirth for any other SC's and their owners!

It will probably be in about 3 weeks but date currently undecided.

Take care Ant. A few years back I arranged to meet one other SC owner to chew the fat and compare notes on SC430 audio upgrades. It spiralled out of control into a car park meet of no less than a magnificent seven SC430.

And then Ant could commence to produce his idea of an SC430 Register ?

That idea was shelved as I don't want accusing of wanting to be....I think you said 'the centre of the world'

Indeed I did Ant.

Hi John

I now see what you were alluding to!

It was when I realised that there are over twice as many etype Jaguars on UK roads compared with the SC430 that I thought a register would be a good idea. Lexus SC430 there are 1849 vehicles taxed and Jaguar ETypes there are 4565.

I suppose you commented but it is very difficult when no feedback is available to base decisions on.

Hi Neil

The more the merrier, it would be brilliant to get several vehicles together! Perhaps even you could join us if you could combine it with one of you regular business trips up north!

Hi All

Please let me know what you think about starting a register of SC430's and what information of vehicle and owner would be appropriate?

Please let me know if a trip up to Holmfirth for a bite to eat and a natter would interest people?

Count me in, Anthony. I'll give some thought to what info to register, but I wouldn't have thought there needed to be a long list!

Sorry Ant,I`ve just got back from an appointment and have read the above. Perhaps if I stopped corresponding in code and said what I meant in the first place, things would slot together more swiftly.

I endorse your idea and it seems that others do too. Let`s see how it develops ?

I cannot imagine acquiring an SC430 myself, but I will observe from a distance.

On a different platform (dis) there was a register of sorts with an approximate location pin for each owner.

You do the SC430s and I'll volunteer to do the GS460s.😊

It would probably be easier to start a campaign (starting with FB) to get all SC owners to register with LOC and then the important info is captured in one place without any GDPR issues.

That is okay but I do not Facebook so it would be up to others on this site to help direct SC430 owners to this site.

I will contact a few people who run registers for other owners clubs to pick their brains about the implications of GDPR and how they started up.

Let's see where it goes eh?

Come on Russ....get with the programme!! 🤣 😂🤣

A register would be a list off all theaSC430's in the country, vehicle details like colour etc and home plotted on a map, contact information, but we need to consider if any other information would be helpful, appropriate and avoid GDPR guidelines.
