Fsport Design Headlights

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Quick question about the 2023 Fsport Design headlights, I find the low beam headlights intensity slightly low. Specially, when its raining and with street lamps on, the high beams don't kick in and the low beam seems very low to see anything beyond 20-30 meters away. I spoke with the dealer and there is no way to adjust the low beam angle. (most of the basic cars have those feature).

Anyone else face this issue? Also, is the possible to change the low beam LED to higher intensity.

regards,

Pavan

I find the lights too low on my car (not Fsport).

I think the lights are some on premium plus and fsport Design spec. Did you speak to your dealer and any alternatives they suggested?

The headlight height is adjusted automatically by a link on the rear suspension.  Technically that is fixed but you can unofficially adjust the headlight aim individually.

Nothing unofficial about the headlight adjustment, it is the only way to correct align the beam. The sensor on the suspension is there to then automatically keep the correctly adjusted headlight light level under different vehicle load conditions.

What the Lexus dealer may have meant is that there is no way to adjust just the dipped beam - full and dipped beams are at a fixed offset so they adjust together. The correct procedure is to adjust the lights on full beam and then dipped is automatically in the correct place. They should have checked the high beam was correctly aligned though.

No, they are 180 miles away - only had it just over a week 🙂

Thanks Don, I'll have a look at that when I get a chance.

Interestingly the AHB is a bit iffy during dusk but fine when fully dark. The engagement button on the end of the stalk makes it easy to cancel full beam when necessary.

It is unofficial because they are factory set and should not need adjusting so the only options are to fiddle with that link on the suspension or go in with a screwdriver.  The lights should only need adjustment after a new light is fitted or a body repair.   The instructions from Lexus say adjust the dip beam and the main beam will come right.

Not every car comes out the factory correct and certainly not once it arrives in the UK, hence why there is an extensive PDI process where a panel respray/replacement isn't unheard of, but yes it should be correct.

An unscientific way to check is as you pull up behind a typical hatchback is your lights should be illuminating their rear number plate but not high enough to reach the rear window.

Whilst the UX lights aren't as good as other vehicles I've experienced, I personally don't find them an issue if correctly aligned.

The manual adjustment on basic cars is to compensate for heavy load in the boot - it doesn't allow you to raise the beam above the correct alignment, only lower it. This is performed automatically by the UX, so there is no manual control, but the outcome should be the same - correctly aligned dipped beam which doesn't rise even if you put a load in the boot.
