there probably is sat nav software for the mac, havent looked into it but you can get a windows emulator if there isnt.

red white and yellow leads mat, so more like av type connectors?

Haven't ever used any satnav stuff on OSX, there is stuff which can talk to GPS devices but no idea how good it is..

You just get Microsoft Virtual PC to emulate a full PC, emulates a 400Mhz PC, runs okay, not going to be as quick as native code but it's usable.

Don't know if there's a port of Wine for OSX, maybe part of the Fink project if you have an X Window server installed?

Hehe, as Pete (Scorpion) will tell you, I've got a flasher mac too ;)

But for those of you worried about codecs etc, the Videolan and MPlayer clients have the codecs built in to them so you don't need to worry about them at all..

I've even had really obscure stuff playing in these clients, like the Shadowrealm format stuff etc...

WMV9 is an exception as you need the Microsoft Windows Media Player for that, but they do a port of that for the Mac..

You can get Videolan for the PC too and that has everything inside the executable, no dicking about installing codecs to get anything to play!

You can also get MS Office as a native product for the Mac so no problems there, that pretty much covers most people off straight away!

Very tempting.

But for car use Sat Nav would be my primary need!

I know you can use Virtual PC -but it is pretty slow and not going to be better then an actual PC.

If some one knows of a good Native Voice Guided Sat Nav program for the Mac then I think I'm sold!

I would also need some Xenerc drivers! :D

Xenarc drivers are on the CD that came with your screen for mac and linux as well as pc

I got some very nice (FREE) gps software for my car pc

uses a modified frontend of destinator, with full sexy voice and touch screen input, maps were downloaded for free too for any country, and all i had to buy was a cheap eBay £30 USB GPS reciver.

Bargain

then I pulled all the car stuff out of my IS, so used it once !! worked good and the price was right :)

Im very tempted to :)

the GS has a screen in already so Im going to loose the Touchscreen control of the computer

what i need to do is look into the software side of playing mp3's on a mac

and a power supply issue

had the perfect car PC powersupply , but i doubt it would work on the mac :(

Thanks Brett.

Didn't realise that the Xenarc had mac drivers. :)

This is probably a longshot but:

I was thinking -Infomap Navigator has a Linux version - couldn't this be run on Mac OSX without emulation since it is based on Linux anyway?
