40k Service With Turbo

My 4 year / 40 k mile service is due this month. With having the turbo conversion and lots of other things upgraded on my car, is it worth having the service done by lexus? Or by another garage (maybe that specialises in performance cars)?

I've emailed Leicester and the standard sevice costs £418. They said they can service the car with the turbo fitted. Just dont want them fiddling with bits they shouldn't be. On top of that they'll give 15% dicount for LOC goldmembers.

The service consists of: oil & air con filter replaced

brake fluid, diff oil , engine coolant . & remote Battery in key.

I've already changed the air con filter so that wont be included in the price either.

Would it be better to supply my own brake fluid, diff oil or engine coolant or would the ones that Lexus supply be more than adequate for my turbo etc?

I'll probably be keeping the car for sometime now as i've spent so much on it. Also when i do sell i'll have to sell with the turbo conversion and everything on. So i'm not sure whether the full Lexus service history would be of any use.

Thanks in advance.

@ Mr Prolex... Has my oil filter been changed when the oil cooler was added or is the original one still on there? Or any of the other above items been changed?

The gearbox oil and diff oil that Lexus use will be fine! I just changed both gearbox and diff oil while the turbo was getting fitted and used the oil that Toyota recommend!

You would be better changing the oil filter whether it was done or not.

You could specify that they use a certain grade of oil for your engine that has better properties for the turbo! (would need to find out what oil is best!)

The coolant and brake fluid are pretty much standard and any decent stuff will do!!!

You prob would be better getting a private garage to do it for you as they will charge you much less and will have no problem with you supplying the parts!

A LSH will not matter too much with the turbo fitted as the buyer when the time comes should be able to easily see that the car is well looked after!

Keep all the reciepts of the parts used in a file so you can show them to the buyer!! That will impress them! :D

Decided i'll book my car in with Lexus Leicester anyway for the 40k service.

I've told the bloke that everything that he's listed to be done on the service has only just been done apart from changing the remote key Battery.

They are still going to check that its been done to validate the stamp.

With 15% discount they are going to charge me £98 incl vat to basicly change my key Battery and stamp my book.

Hi

My IS200's 40,000 sevice is due soon, so I contacted my local Lexus dealer in Cardiff.

On the phone, Natalie on service reception quoted £361.22, I asked do they do a LOC discount yet  she went away and on her return said "we will give 10%" so now £325.... good news for LOC members in WALES. :)

2ddesign :winky:

Just a quick update: The cars booked in Tuesday for the remote key change and to "look over the car". I was told it would take around 45mins to check that everything had been done for the 40k service. Now they want to drop me off in the city centre and pick me back up when the car is done..

Either to justify charging me loads for a job thats been done or to have a go in a turbo'd IS :duh:

make a note of the speedo before you get out :whistling:

Yep. A trick I use Aide is to write the milage down on a post-it note and stick it on the speedo right in front of their face. That way, they can see you've logged it.... ;)

LOL ............. great !

..... on a serious note, when my car went in for body work repairs, I did question them why it was that there was an extra 10 miles from the body shop to the dealers .....

..... and that also my £1 had gone missing from the centre consol section ......
