New Owner Nasty Shock

Hi everyone,

This is my first time at posting anything so here goes. Bought an Is200 (2002 model ) in June from Teesside Lexus. Strathcaron Blue a great car can't fault the car only small niggle is petrol consumption. Image the shock when I got a letter in Sept to ring the service dept to be told my car needed a service and cost would be £577. On ringing the salesman that sold me the car the price of service was dropped to £250 but no real explanation as to why it didn't have a service before I picked it up. I have found an independant garage, the car is going there to-morrow, the cost £170. That includes pick-up and delivery to my home....

Best I have had is 29, currently averaging 27 which is a heck of an improvement!!

Lexus servicing is one big stitch up mate, the sales guys try and talk it down when you buy the car, just stating vague figures.

I bought a 2 year service plan which works out cheaper, some members have bought their own genuine discounted service items and had Lexus do the work cheaper. Or you could go Gold on here and save a few quid that way :)

there are ways of getting it done a bit cheaper, still a stitch up though

Surprised Teeside are expensive, I thought they were the ones with the competitive parts prices, maybe worth phoning around

Strange price considering my 3 year service plan was only £470.

Includes 2 minor's and 1 major.

Mind you, I didn't pay that because I picked the car up within the free service offer period :)
