Trust anyone else with your eBay account? Family? Close mate? If so, you could always ask them to log in and snipe it for you!

I was sniping these alloys for my mate the other week, using his account. Got sniped myself within the last few seconds though (went over what he wanted to pay), but at least got the satisfaction of seeing this guy get sniped by someone else five seconds later!

Agree with mat as you can end up getting caught up in the whole bidding thing and you end up paying more than its worth or willing to pay. Set yourself a target and stick by it.

I have used eBay for years, and never felt the need to do anything else other than...

1) Decide the MAXIMUM I am prepared to pay ( best practice at any auction ) and submit as my bid

2) Wait and see if I "win"

3) The end

There now......what's so hard about that :D

totally agree, theres something a little underhanded about sniping, it's not what auctions are about, if you like something, bid for it, don't sneak around in the backround and intend to take it from under the noses of people who have been bidding honestly all week, or at the very least have the decency to bid yourself and not let some software do it for you.

.....because as well all know, most peeps get there buddies to bump the bids up all week.........but staying in the shadows and bidding at the last min.....you dont have to constantly bid against sellers said bidding buddies

I won the item, so ..... didn't need to bid sniper anyway.

@Eunos, I have been on eBay for many years too, 5 in fact.

But on this occasion, I had to get a rare present for someone, that has to be at my doorstep by Monday morning the latest, hence the need for me to have to bid snipe.
