Toyo Proexes

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the difference between the Toyo Proexes T1R's and the T1S's. need some new tyers and ive found the T1S's for £65 per corner, and the T1R's for £74 per corner.

both i thought were a decent price but was wondering is it worth spending the extra cash on the more expensive set?

If i remember rightly the V tread goes all the way to the edge (like the Eagle F1) of one tyre, the other is the same V tread but has a kinda block tread on each edge...I expect the full V tread has better handling characteristics in both wet and dry.

T1-s are the old version and have the V thread accross the entire surface ( older stock)

T1-R is the newer design that has a groove at either edge to inprove grip when cornering...(new stock)

personally i thought they were okay, but now have F1's on and they totally outshine them.... ;)

I've got the older Proxes on both my sets of wheels and think they are great. I've had no problems at all and when they need replacing I'll buy the newer model. :)

T1-R's were developed as a direct result of the poor performance of the T1-S in the wet....so T1-S + IS200 RWD...not recommended. Latest high performance tyre from Toyo is Proxes 4.

I have T1-R's on the 250..no complaints at all.

I have had many tyre brands over the years, and can honestly say the Toyo's have been the best I have had, especially for the money.. the Bridgestones were £130, Toyo's £75... and the performance is very similar... with maybe the edge going to Toyo.

The older T1-S have been superb in the wet and dry.. and are pretty quiet... they don't squeal when over cooking it on corners, unlike the Pirelli's I had, which complained on the lightest of bends.

The only downside is that I was getting about 8K miles on the front (FWD) I would expect much more on a RWD car.

The late T1-Rs are a bit better in the grip department, and also a quiet tyre.. I had done 10K miles, and still had plenty left, so they certainly do last longer as well.

Out of the 2, I think the older T1-S do look better, with the V tread going all the way to the edge.

When the Dunlops wear down on the GS, I will more than likely be replacing with Toyo's.. as I can't fault them one bit.

Yeap T1Rs are the newer and better, mine need replacing, got them for £70 each including delivery, cant remember where from though .....where have you seen them for £74 mate?

I would like to try them, but the sizes I want are not available yet ...maybe they will be by the time my T1-R's wear out

Hard to do a comparison as the cars are completely different but both types of Toyo's are an improvement over the Bridgestone Potenzas that were original equipment on both cars as they are quieter and also have a lot more grip in the wet.

Thanks for that mate, it didnt seem that many had used them so i went for the T1Rs again :) ....they lasted over 2.5 years and i agree a vast improvement over the potenzas

might suit weekend track people who can now drive to the track and home to the garage .... in the dry of course

Those are "Uber Sticky" soft tyres for track days...

Yes, they may be road legal, but won't last long at all... probably just do a few track days at most..

Probably yes... they were never designed for wet roads, just track days, but they have enough tread to be road legal.

They are so you can legally drive to the track and back home again.. instead of changing to race tyres when you get there.
