My IS200SE is running standard wheels at the moment

CarTint6.jpg

but they need a refurb after my throttle stuck open :tsktsk: last night

and some damage was caused by the kerb of the 7' width limit I was

negotiating frantically at about 60mph.

I have seen some good condition Lexus 17" rims with tyres on E-Bay that I really like,

but am not completely sure so your opinions please...

Thanks

hmmm depends on how much you get them for, they look in good nick but i have always preferred the 5 spoke ones you currently have on

I prefer the multi spoke look. However I don't think those wheels will look too good in 17's and if the car is not lowered. If you're not lowering the car and sticking with 17's then I say keep the original wheels.

I've owned 5 cars, and the Standard IS 5 spoke wheels are the only ones to get any attention from any of my mates.

many times ive had them say "those are nice alloys", some even thought that i added them on later.

so for me, you cant beat the standards.

Although, having said that, the standard 18" on the IS300 are also very nice, i would love a set on mine.

Personally I prefer the newer eBay ones - especially on a silver car with tints - the anthracite will look really good I reckon.

Also there a fair bit rarer as they only introduced them on the later models.

Also: Vyker which 18"s do you mean - the 300 came with the same 17" 5-spokes as the 200 I thought?

All 18"s were an optional extra.

  • 3 weeks later...

I ended up refurbing mine. I used Automotive Repair Systems.

The guy came to my home will a fully equipped van, took about

2.5 Hours to do four wheels & cost me £160 all in.

Obviously this is not the same as sending them away to be fully

refurbed and Diamond cut, but much more convenient than losing

your wheels for a week, so that was a real factor for me, plus he did

a really good job, 2 LOC members have already asked for the details

of the company in question as they like the look of them.

Sorry I havent taken a close up, so blow the pic up to full size

The colour he used was called Silver Sparkle.

For just £160 and a to your door service I was very happy
