your new one is a couple of years newer than your old one isn't it? (the cream glovebox would suggest its a 'Y' or later, since mines black and X reg) therefore £205, my tax is only £180 (only £2 a month extra tho)

Think of driving an avensis though - is that worth £40 a year? :P

Yeah I just renewed on my '02' plate, £205 as well. What really annoyed me is when I recently renewed my camden parking permit - I went in expecting to pay £90, and came out having paid £145! All because of new rules, putting my IS in the top CO2 band!

This I understand if its for cars going forwards, as then it can influence the choice of car you buy, but to backdate it to any car registered after 2001 is just stupid!

This might cheer you up.....if you lived in Ireland you'd be paying £387 pounds (€539 euro) for your IS200 or if you had an IS300 =£796 (€1109 euro) :(

OMG It Sure Does

Now That Does Sting

Thats all good, but how do you find out what your Pre-2001 CO2 emmisions are if you wich to know?:whistling:

Mainly i want to find out what my car throughs out when running on LPG (it's ment to be a cleaner/greener fuel) so it shoul dbe in the Alternative fuel band and hopefully cheaper to TAX..:question: or am i barking up the wrong tree :tomato: ?

The reason all these CO2 based fees are for cars registered after March 2001 is that this is when the DVLA started printing them on the V5 document - earlier cars don't have this, so I'm guessing the only way would be to visit an MOT centre or something?

You may be able to get an alternative fuel discount, but it doesn't always apply to every car, and I think it is also based on who did the installation. I'm not absolutely sure about this, but I think those are the rules - although I can't see why they can't just measure your emissions and then give you a discount if you're under..........
