Tte Suspension Kit

Recommended Posts

Hi guys just emailed TTE about their suspension kit for the IS200 and asked on a price which came out to Euro-12010,62 + 87euro's for delivery, rough conversion comes out at just under 1k gbp, pretty pricey is it not? You can pick up a decent set of TEIN coilies for £580 which have got to be just as good if not better?

Thoughts

was looking at the TEIN superstreets which are roughly £580 surely the extra £400 for the TTE's isn't justified? Not looking at buying now but just doing some investigation :P

you will get a knock knock noise all the time..................

So by the time the top mount kit has been added to stop it knocking, it nearly makes sense to get the TTE's.

Although for the £1000 the TTE coilovers would be you could have Superstreet's with the top mounts and the EDFC contoller.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the TTE coilovers are only adjustable for height, whereas the Tein Super Streets are adjustable for damping force as well as height (with the option of EDFC too). That might not matter to some people, but it is one of the differences in spec.

Yep that true Steve :winky:

Do the TTE coilovers come with new top mounts ? I'm guessing not. If you add the pillow-ball mounts to the Tein kit, isn't that supposed to add some sort of handling benefit too (going from the Tein site) ? I don't actually understand what those mounts do, but I thought it was supposed to be "better" to have them ?

Tein quote :

The upper mounts increase steering response, and allow for EDFC compatibility

TTE coilovers top mount is the same as oem, you are better off getting the tein top mounts with the kit, as you say everything will work better with no knocking :winky:

My (very limited) understanding of this is that just installing springs is slightly risky because you might find that your shocks are quite worn and don't handle the new springs that well. Although from what I remember, your car hasn't exactly done a huge mileage Dan.

I also understand that the ARBs shouldn't affect anything to do with ride/comfort when you're going in a straight line, just make the car flatter through corners.

No doubt someone who actually knows what they're talking about will be along soon to help you a lot better than me though !

Yeah my car only has 65k on it now :) so wouldn't have thought my shocks would be in too bad a condition. I suppose it's always a option to go down first of all and see how things go :P. I have noticed that there is quite a bit of lean on the car when giving it some beans, so ARB's are really in order, how do you find your C-one arb's Steve?

Anyone have any other views on differences in ARB's c-one/cusco/TTE etc?

Lowering springs with stock shock absorbers give horrible ride quality, and make your stock shocks break in double quick time, in the long term you'll end up upgrading to coilovers anyway so save your money.

I think when I do my car I'll be going to for Tein SS, seems like the best value kit.
