I have a 2004 LS430 and the nav screen started cutting out. Lexus dealer says the unit is faulty and needs to be replaced.

New unit will cost €7,900 and refurb unit is €3890. not cheap. I can get a second hand unit in USA for $800 but i do not know if it will be compatible. Anyone got any ideas.

Is it not still under warranty ?

Hi

USA ones are a mirror image of your one, ie the buttons have switched sides, you would think this is the only difference but I suspect they will have other differences as well.

My brother recently bought a heater control panel for his 400 from the USA and although the same size and look from the front the plugs in the back were totally different.

Contact these people, they advertise that they repair all Toyota/Lexus touch screens

£4k to £8k for a nav screen!!! Incredible! You might as well buy a new Lexus with that kind of price!

The quote is in euros not £'s mind you 1 euro = 1 pound at the moment so you are right!

Another thing about the US is that they use a different colour TV system over there NTSC ( yes I know what it stands for but don't ask!) whereas we use PAL ( phase alternating line, not dog food) so the units may be incompatible.

UK repair seems the best option.
