Lexus Ls400 V Car Park Barrier

Recommended Posts

After collecting my Mother in Law from the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary in the freshly polished Lex I paid my £1.60 for 15 minutes parking ( what a ripoff!) and proceeded to the exit barrier.

I inserted the ticket, the barrier raised but then it decided to go down again as I was driving under it.

I hit the brakes and it hit the windscreen.

Left the car in that position and went to the barrier terminal and pressed the "Help" button, ring ring no reply repeat proceedure again no reply, put the ticket in again no response from the barrier.

By now there is a large queue of cars behind me so everyone had to reverse so I could park up again.

Walk to reception then back to the security office, details sorted on a report, security guy leaves barrier up.

I then learn that this is the second incident of the day with the barrier.

There are now two chips in the windscreen that I know weren't there before as I polished the car this morning and cleaned all the windows.

Anyway I have got to ring the Car Park Office on Monday to sort it out.

They have CCTV on the barrier so it will prove the case ( I don't want to see this on Youtube!)

Very sorry to hear your tale of woe.

I wouldn't be too confident in them using any CCTV footage to prove their liability - it will probably (and quite conveniently) "not have been working at that time". Remember, CCTV is not there for your benefit or mine, but rather to spy on us in the likely event that we're terrorists.

Hopefully there will at least have been witnesses who can back you up.

Good luck, and let us know the result.

Hi sorry to here about it, a handy tip, by law you can request for any piece of cctv footage you are captured on, its somthing to do with human rights legislation, they are legally obliged to provide it. If its the second time its happened you should have no problem with a claim. Good luck Mark
