It couldn't have been £9995 could it? That's ridiculously cheap for a 7 seater even if it is a Citroen...........

Surprisingly I saw an ad for the BMW 1 series in the paper today saying that they were offering an extra £1.5k on top of the scrappage allowance - never thought I'd see BMW offering discounts like that........

It's all a big con. The government still gets the tax and VAT charged on the new car. You'd still be better off buying a nearly-new car than a new one with the scrappage (hate that word) allowance in most cases.

ive been watching the picasso prices for a good 2-3 years as thought it may be a good kid carrier for my 3 (keeping the lex)...price settled at £9995 well over 2/3 years ago and hasnt moved, now they are using the scrappage thing as some kind of incentive...even though the price hasnt moved :tsktsk:

how much does the average car lose in value in the first few months after its driven off the forecourt anyway? costs far more than keeping ur existing car, scrappage allowance is a completely empty gesture

on top of that it will drive second hand prices from the gutter (where they currently are)

to totally down the drain :)
