Hid Installed

I got the HID kit tihs afternoon and I tried to install it. But it doesn't work ..at all. Bugger. I am really upset as I was hopping to go to the movies with my new lights ....so to speak.

Anyway, someone said that I might need to invert the connectors. Which ones. Any pics of your kit installed would be greatly apppreciated or at least a possible cause of this failure.

As far as I am aware, I've installed everything as it supposed to so.... :crying:

cheers

p.s. nearly done with the carbon fibre bits....:)

The connectors might easily fit the wrong way round, they might not, the kits vary. The easiest place to do it is probably the connector that you plug into the ballast. Make it fit if it doesn't easily already (e.g. cutting off a tab). That's bound to be the problem, this always seems to be an issue with those kits and the IS200.

Oh well, I've tried it this morning again but still no luck. moved them around and all that. It fits quite well, so I don't need to cut a tab or anything but it doesn't work. Is it possible that the balast might be broken or faulty? Is quite unlikely to be the case as both are not working. Is there anyway I can check the bulbs or the balast? I want light....!!!

Have you tried both ballasts and both bulbs ? I think you'd have to be incredibly unlucky not to have at least one working bulb and one working ballast.

So you've unplugged the original halogen bulb, taken that connector out of it, and plugged it into a ballast ? And then you've connected the ballast up to the HID bulb. That doesn't work, even when you try the connections around the opposite way ?

Was it the HB4/9006 type that you bought ?

Bench test them mate, take them out and test them on a spare car Battery before you make the call to the vender stateing their bust.

I always bench test everything i buy before i start to fit so i know that it worked before i started to fit, then if they dont work i know its my fitting or what i'v fitted it too.

Bench test is what i suggest.....!

Yes mate. This is how I did it:

HID pic

I have couple of pics there taken this morning. As I said it seems to be preeeeeety straight forward but ...still no light.

I will have another go later on today, but if you think this looks wrong please let me know.

Cheers

Take then off the car and test them with a spare car Battery or a power supply that gives out 12v @ 10amps or more.

It looks right. Do the OEM headlights still work if you plug them back in ? Just checking that the fuse hasn't blown.

The connector that I would try swapping around if the red/black one going into the ballast, try it in both ways.

Have you tried both ballasts and both bulbs ? i.e. if you've just tried that one set, then try plugging in the bulb from the other set into that first ballast. If that doesn't work, then swap the ballast for the second one and again try both bulbs with it.

^^^^^ Indeed, if/when you get them working don't leave them turned on for more than a few seconds in those tubes, they'll melt !

:D Let there be light...I inverted and checked the balasts they are working ...both of them ....

Thanks for your help guys. I really appreciate it.

Yahoooooo
