Is200 Sport Speaker Blown

Recommended Posts

Hi to all,

One of the parcel shelf speakers in my IS200 Sport is "farting".....I have the 8 speaker system.

Now as Lexus want £172 + VAT, and I cant find any on eBay or various scrap yards, I wondered what I could replace it (or both of them) with?

Does anyone recommend any aftermarket brands/specific speakers that once fitted will not compromise the cars factory installation? I believe they are 6x9s but havent taken a tape measure to them so please correct me if im wrong?

Dont wanna spend mega bucks just want to eliminate the "farting" without losing the quality of the factory install??

Cheers

Bill

So the OEM parcel shelf speakers are 2 way? Im not really up on ICE....most 6x9s in the shops are 3 way.....do our OEM ones simply provide bass? What "type" of speaker should I look for? 2-way, 1-way??

And BTW....having just read your ICE spec....do you still have your OEM speakers??? ;-)

most 6x9s split the audio within the speaker (i'm assuming using bandpass filters) from a single audio input - however IIRC the OEM speakers have the audio split by the amp and then the audio is sent seperately to each speaker (ie 2 audio inputs.)

I'm not sure how Redz speakers differ from the norm.

Sold my OEM 6x9s on a few weeks back but i'm sure someone will have a set sitting in their shed.
