Hidden Reg. Number

i have noticed on this forum and most others, when members show photo`s of their car, they hide the reg. number. is there an obvious reason for this? just wondering?

Just natural I guess. I guess it's similar to any other personal information posted online - best kept at a minimum.

EDIT: Also historically, when the IS first came out there were a few reported "order" thefts and a good library of IS owners would be the LOC forum.

And mine was one of those ones that got nicked at that time

But yeah as above, with all the cloning that goes on to avoid speed cameras and congestion charging, may as well make it a little harder for them :)

exactly same for me,, its to stop car being cloned,, and to stop any one mail ordering my motor

Same here my old car a rover 220 coupe had its number plate copied in london and got tickets but when it went to court the tickets were written for bmw m3 but lost wages having to go to court so dont want hassle again.

It is also not best practice to use your personal photograph in your avatar now I know what you look like I may find a good make up artist, find a high class jewellers and make myself £40 million! lol

You can pay the DVLA a small fee, and they''ll give you name and address of the registered keeper, so then easy pickings for scum bags to nick your motor!!
