Spare Wheel

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks

I have recently purchased a 2000 is200 se auto. The question I have is that the spare wheel is a 16" wheel but the wheels on the car are 17", is this a prob if need to use the spare, will it cause diff wind up if I have a 16" on one side and a 17" on the other side???

This would only be in an emergency.

Cheers

Banger

Might be worth trying to find out where the original spare got to - is it definitely an SE or an S that's had the alloys upgraded?

Either way it's not a huge issue, I've got 18" wheels and a 17" spare, the difference in overall size is tiny so there won't be difference really. As long as you're not driving flat out on it there shouldn't be a problem, and even then not sure that there would be.

the difference in wheel size is pretty much made up for with greater tyre wall size on the 16, and should you need it, since u'd only use it temp while u get whichever 17 may need repairin in emergency u'd be fine anyway,

17's come up all the time on eBay anyway with and without tyres so its an easy change to match the rest
