Wheel Refurbishment Oem 5 Spokes

I was just wondering and hoping someone could recommend a top notch company. In or around the South East (Dagenham, Essex) I don't mind travelling a reasonable distance.

I want to get my original 5 spokes refurbed to the original spec, sparkly silver with diamond cut faces.

Most places I speak to either do not do diamond cutting, if

they do the quote is ridiculous!

I spoke to 'The Wheel Specialist' who do not do Diamond Cutting but advised their Chrome paint is just as good? Hmm, doubtful. For that finish they quotes £320.

Wicked Wheels do do Diamond cutting, my quote...£95 per wheel +VAT!! No thank you!!

So does anyone have any suggestions? They would greatly appreciated.

The wheels are off car/no tyres.

I had mine done by a company based in Milton Keynes call Pristine alloys, they were the company that were contracted by Lexus to do all the warranty repair work so the work is top notch.

I think it was about £60 a wheel with the diamond cut faces, but that was on a wheel exchange program so would be a bit cheaper for bare wheels.

Or theres BJV Engineering in Hemel Hempstead, their prices are the best I've seen (£160 for a set of 4 with diamond cut faces). But cant comment on the quality of their work, although I'm planning on getting them to do mine in the next week or so.

Thanks for that Sprinter. I've had a look at their websites and I'll be giving them a bell Monday morning. Their online guide prices seem really good. Let me know how yours cone out. Are you getting your done to original spec too?

Sorry I didn't explain myself propely, I got my 5 spokes done to factory specs with diamond cut faces on an exchange program with Pristine alloys, their work was top notch.

Since then I've got hold of a set of the 6 spoke aero alloys, which im going to get done by BJV Engineering in 'Flat Silver' but I'm going to get them to do a small customization to the inner lip to make it less visible (see my post HERE for what I mean). But if I get mine done before you I'll be sure to let you know how they come out. :)

I think you did explain properly now I've re-read it all! My fault! Haha!

I'm also after a set of Aeros when they come up. If they come up before I book my wheels in I'll get them, if not it's a refurb for the 5 spokes. I'm currently running the 11 spoke in Anthracite. My Mrs thinks I've lost it with all these sets of wheels!! Lol!!

I'm going to gibmve your recommendations a call in the morning. Thanks again.

Any pics of your refurbed 5 spokes?

Haha okay, we'll share the blame on that one.

If you want a set of aero's theres a guy on eBay selling some without tyres at the moment. LINK

I phoned him the other day and he said he would do the 4 without tyres for £250, but there may be room to knock him down a bit.

Here's a couple of pics of mine after the refurb, the pictures were supposed to be of the calipers but you can still get a good idea of the quality.

One thing I would say (which I wish I'd thought of before I got mine done) would be to get a slightly darker than standard silver put on. Just to add a bit more contrast between the paint and the diamond cut faces.

I've seen those Aeros for sale on eBay. I contacted the seller about them. I was too late for a good set, the only ones left have 1 wheel which has been repaired. I'd rather not have that rim on my car and I'm not that desperate for a set.

I would love a set of Chicanes or Chrome grand Prix. (Yeah phat chance of getting them right!) There was a pair on eBay a while ago, brand new! Went for £35 each in the

end!

Your rims look great! Can't Wait to get mine done. I got a quote from Lepsons this morning. £262 +vat so looking at about £325 for the 4. Good price? I'm going to try BJV and Pristine in a while.

I had a set of 2.8 Celica-Supra wheels, stripped, painted and diamond cut with a company call RIM TEC, I was put off by the rundown building they work from but their workmanship was top quility.

Thanks for that Bob. Looks like they did a great job of your wheels! I'll have a look and get a quote.

So far the company coming out on top is Prestine alloys. Spoke to them a moment ago, very good price! Their exchange programme sounds good too and they have local agents.

Can't get in touch with BJV constantly engaged.

Blimey that's a big difference! I'll try BJV again tomorrow.

I got quoted per wheel from Prestine (£56 +vat) so £270 there abouts. But that's not a bad quote compared to Wicked Wheels £115 per wheel!! I said to them, I want a refurb I'm not buying a set of wheels! Ridiculous price.

I hope your Aeros come out good by BJV.

Just realised I've mixed up my refurbers...

It was infact a company called RimTec (different from the RimTec mentioned above, just to confuse things even more) who quoted me £70+VAT per wheel!

Pristine haven't come back to me yet, so they will probably be somewhere between RimTec and BJV as far as prices go.

I got confused because RimTec and Pristine are both based in Milton Keynes, literally a 4 minute drive apart!

I can vouch for Pristine Wheels. They did 5 x 18" Aero alloys for me for around £346 which included correcting two flat spots. They are not cheap but the wheels were refurbished and packaged very professionally.

Having looked into it more, I've decided to just get Pristine to do my Aeros, as they did a fantastic job with my 5 spokes before. And I'm getting mixed reports on BJV's service. Most people say they are brilliant, but theres a few who have been disappointed by the customer service they were given. And a couple who wernt happy with the work carried out. And as I'm going to Milton Keynes to drop of some components at our anodizers for work tomorrow, I can drop them off at Pristine while I'm there.

Interesting posts fella's, good to read as I've got all my quotes now and will be booking with one of them very soon.

Here are the quotes i received all including vat and per set of 4 with Diamond Cut faces. Might help some of you out too if you're thinking of getting a refurb.

BJV £192

RimTec (Kent) £200

RimTec (Milton Keynes) £240

Pristine £270

Lepsons £325

Wicked Wheels £425

My quotes are for wheels off car, no tyres and no tyres to be fitted.

The guy I spoke to from RimTec in Milton Keynes sounded really dodgy. He gave me 3 different quotes, in the end he said £60 per rim for cash.

Pristine were certainly the most helpful.

BJV sounded good and at that price I was going to go with them. Until I read the above posts! Now I'm undecided again. So what has gone downhill with BJV and their work? The guy I spoke to was helpful and sounded friendly.

Thanks Parthiban. That's not too for me, but it looks far to up market to give a competitive quote. Dealing with Bentleys, Range Rovers a d top of the ranges sports cars I'd feel out of place taking my car there! Lol!

Off topic but have you used them for bodywork Parthiban?

Rich , with the Rim Tec from Kent, did they quote for tyres off/tyres on and balance ? as it would alway be best to let the company thats refurbished wheels to refit the tyres, that way if they nick a rim putting it back on they can sort it out.

Just got back from dropping of my Aero's at Pristine, getting them done in flat silver with satin laquer. And there's 2 small dents that need correcting which the seller didn't tell me about.. :tsktsk:

So for refurb, sprayed in my choice of colour and dent correction its costing me £300 all in. I'll get pics up as soon as I get them back. :)

Bob, all the quotes are I got are for loose wheels no tyres and get them back the same way. The reason being is I'm going to book it in for geometry set-up by WIM/Black Boots. I'm going to get them to supply the tyres/fit all at the same time. I think this works out the cheapest way. And I know WIM have the machine that doesn't touch the face of the wheel.

Sprinter, like I said I spoke to that guy you got your Aeros off about the second set he has. I didn't entirely trust him. But maybe he didn't know about the dents in the wheels you bought.

Look forward to seeing your Aeros once done!

Yee, well I bought the set that still had tyres on. So it would have been difficult to see without removing them. It's just a couple of minor flat spots, which they said they would correct to improve the balance of the wheel. And they were both on inside edges too, so wont effect how they look. He said they should be ready to collect on Monday. :)
