Used a loan CT this week and was amazed to see no rear armrest, thinking back I think my Ford Anglia was about the last car with just a rear bench seat, are they all like this or am I missing something ?

You are missing nothing Tony but clearly the CT range is! There is quite a lot about the CT which is missing compaired to a similarly priced Prius. However, there are also some nice advantages such as internal and external styling and enhanced performance of drivetrain and braking systems. From my limited experience of Lexus, the CT does not seem to be a typical Lexus. There seem to be a lot of exclusions throughout the CT range( which I would expect to find with other marques) which are not typical of other Lexus models.

Strange how every other manufacturer can do it with out loosing space, we got a cheap Citroen C4 3door here with a clever armrest which opens up for storage and cup holders, this is done to cut costs in the hope we will not notice. Pah !

No reason why they couldn't fit in an armrest however the CT is based on the Auris Hybrid which also doesn't have an armrest. I guess they just took the existing rear seat design.

The Prius has an armrest and is no wider so it shows it can be done.
