Button On Accelerator!

Recommended Posts

Hay guys, I was hoovering the ISF today and spotted a circular button/switch where the throttle pedal hits the floor. The carpet is cut around this so it's obviously important. There's also a click from it when the pedal is pushed against it. Any idea what this switch does, has me perplexed!

It's for WOT (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wot) so you know you are at maximum acceleration when you hear the button click.

Also worth noting it doesn't matter which mode you are in Normal / Sport / Snow if you bury the pedal to the button the car will give you everything it can.

kick down buttons used to be common on auto transmissions to make it instantly change down a gear. Modern designs don't really use that anymore as you have throttle and other engine sensors.

The ISF doesn't have launch control does it?

Maybe it is just a quick way for the ECU to know to drop down the maximum number of gears possible the moment WOT is reached.
