Hi peeps ... Just bought my first Lexus 3 days

ago and love it ... 64000 miles on an 07 ... 220d SE

Only 2 things that bother me is that now and again I get a click sound ...similar to a stone hitting the windscreen

Worst of alI read load of reviews before buying and all were good ... Today I've been reading that head gasket problems seem to be common :( not good :(

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

There have been some reported problems with the 220d engine but we only hear about the ones that have had problems so there must be many out there that have never had a fault.

I guess from the age and mileage it has a FLSH? If problems do develop Lexus are covering the work under warranty provided the SH is current and the mileage, if I remember correctly is below 107,000 miles.

I also think there was a recall for rattling dash problems similar to you describe.

The dash problem rings a bell,I seem to remember it some plastic trim or something which expands with heat and gives a sharp crack and the cure was to fit some foam strips.

Could be wrong but may be worth mentioning to your dealer.

Same here, the only thing I didn't tackle myself was the timing belt job, I would have done but my local garage quoted me £100.00 labour to do the job so I didn't turn that price down.

It took them one and a half days so good value!

Most of the work is routine maintainance as they rarely go wrong.

BTW have a read of the post below, just shows all IS220d models aren't a problem.

Hi. Yes Steve is correct. The crack sound your hear from the dash was a re call issue with the 220d and very common. If you have full Lexus service history I would have thought that would have been noticed by the previous owner and sorted out by now! I'd call your nearest Lexus dealer, should be a free repair.
