Is300 Pricing

Hi all,

would be grateful for some thoughts re the pricing of my IS300.

I'm changing to an RX and allthough I have the funds to purchase, I thought I'd get rid of the IS first as I havent really got the space for 4 cars at home (wifes Hybrid Yaris, my Alfa Spider, IS300 and potentially the RX).

I put comprehensive ad's on both Pistonheads and Ebay:

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/lexus/is/lexus-is-300-le-2004/1020765

Theres hardly any 300's for sale in my model year (2004/54), but so far I've had offers of around £2k, with the highest at £2.4k.

The question is, is that all its worth these days? as I'd had a £2.8k figure in my mind..

If that is the case, thats fine, but given that there arent allot of late model 300's around I would have thought that they would have been going slightly higher.

(i was offered 2k plus a Toyota Starlet on ebay-hmm, I'm still tempted!)

Thoughts/ comments?

J

I thought about swapping my 200 recently for a 300, but swapping bits over and spending extra money at the moment kinda put me off. There were 2 on eBay that i was looking at. Although they are both older than urs, they had mileages of 31,000 and 41,000 i think and were priced at 3.5k and 3.8k.

My is300 that I got off eBay (03 plate)?was £3000 with 47500 miles on the clock. And that was on eBay for quite a while. The guy I got it from wasn't getting many offers he said. He originally was trying to sell for £4000 but no interest at all

Your 300 looks mint. With the Aeros on it I would happily part with £3k. I know you sold them separate, it's what I would have done as well.

The way I see it is it's worth £3k+ but as nobody really wants them cos of hight tax bracket and poor MPG that's why nobody wants to pay more than £2500.

You've also hit the 100k mileage mark which wouldn't put me off a well maintained Lexus but it will put average joe off.

I think the sad reality is to keep it and try and sell the other cars if possible, nobody wants an IS. Because the average joe doesn't know the quality of the cars. I gave up trying to sell mine for the bargain price of £2k, so was forced to keep it until it's death. Unless you want to give it away to a car dealer for peanuts...

If you want a sale, try £2k and keep ur fingers crossed...

Tax is £270 a year, with the RX350 at £475 it looks cheap!!

Ha agreed :)

My mate couldn't sell his 300 either that's why he's keeping it. He valued his at £3500 but didn't get one response when he advertised it. as he says nobody wants a thirsty Lexus. Everybody seems to want rubbish hybrids with no guts that cost £0 in tax. A sad state of affairs in my opinion. Or they go the other way and buy massive 4x4's that they don't need but are happy to put up with rubbish mpg and high tax because they feel superior in their high cabin :whistling:

I hope you get what you want for it as it looks great and I'm sure it's well maintained.
