Rear Screen Demist

How long, ish, should it take the rear screen to demist after hitting the button ?

Not on a frosty day, just one of those cold mornings when there is a lot of dew/condensation on the outside of the back window ?

Mine seems to take anywhere for 20-30 mins !

You hit the button and the smallest of small amount demists following the lines the heating wires take, and then the rest takes an age. I have had to hit the button again for a second time quite a few times (after it had automaticaly gone off).

Is this right ?

I have my 20,000 mile service next week and I am going to mention this.

(As well as a small paint blister I noticed when cleaning the front of the bonnet)

It depends on how much condensation is there. Mine takes a while too. The other day I had the air con on while driving in the rain. Next time I drove the car without air-con it took about an hour to shift the condensation from the moisture that the air con had let out.

Mine takes ages as well, haven't really tried it with the aircon on....

I think it's making up for the supersonic time it takes to demist the mirrors - have you noticed !!!

On a seperate note how cool is that heated screen in these cold months! I defrosted my front screen in 2 minutes this morning - without antifreeze!

I can vouch for the ultraquick defrosting of the side mirrors, they work! This morning the car was all iced up, and after starting it looked like smoke came from its ears. Funny sight :D .

the mirrors come on with the rear screen heater (post 2001 i think)

the rear heater is there to melt frost and ice and does it well

doesnt really do a lot for misty or wet screens though

cant see the point of defrosting mirrors when you cant see out of the window :crybaby:
