Got an intermittent fault with the Lexus , 3 times this year it's failed to detect the key and simply will not allow the ignition to turn , after leaving the car for a while , sometimes a couple of hours sometimes a couple of days it reads the key and all is well for months . Failed 2days ago had it trailered to Lexus who done diagnostics and simply said it will not read either key, I ALREADY NEW THAT BUT GOT CHARGED £102 for the privilege .

There simple solution is to fit a new engine ecu at a cost of £1500 !!!!!

She an older model now but in lovely order but that's almost the value of the car.

Anyone know where the engine ecu is positioned ? And anyone know where to have the ecu repaired ?

Hopefully someone has the answers as it's an intermittent fault

Are you using the car on a regular basis ? On most cars (not just Lexus) which have keyless go, if cars don't get regular use the car's ECU will start to shut down various systems which consume Battery power including the keyless go function.

It might be worth investing in a Battery trickle charger to keep the Battery topped up if you aren't using it regularly.

Changing an ECU seems a bit OTT !

Hi Rob, you're posts on the LS400 forum seem to have disappeared. Try a search for "benfur" on the LS 400 forum. He breaks LS's and is a well respected member.
