Hi Gents, interesting read, I've just purchased an IS-F, from Coventry Lexus, October 08, 49k with full history, Mesa Red with the sunroof option, was the colour I've always wanted too, I paid 20,500 for it, probably a little to much? they did put new discs n pads all round, I'm absolutely over the moon with it, it's my 4th IS, mine has the mark levinson unit, not sure if this was an option? my IS 250 SE-L didn't, did ring about the Cardiff one, but they where similar miles, £1500 more and mine taxes at £230 a year as a pose to £505, as I plan to keep, I opted for the 08 car

good choice womble.. brilliant cars.

i think you got it at a good price tbh.. your not going to get it much cheaper then that buying from a dealer, i paid the same and mine is 79k on a 09 plate from Lexus in Hull about a month ago.

Think you've got the road tax wrong all IS-Fs sit in the same bracket regardless.

Yeah sounds about right price wise, given it came from a Lexus dealer. you may have got one cheaper from a private sale, but without that level of comfort.

how do you get tax that cheap.....

My car was first registered in Jersey, is a UK car, but doesn't come under mainland co2 levels, Jersey cars are taxed on width, so it taxes as pre 02 bracket, no emissions on log book or DVLA, even rang Swansea to check

Was a channel island reg car, doesn't fall in mainland tax bracket, there's no co2 emissions on it, found it hard to believe too, even phoned Swansea to check

Oh I see, that makes sense.

I've been looking at Mustangs and Camaros brought in from the USA, the same applies with those unless they were originally intended for supply into the EEC.

About spot on for a dealer price. £3k less for private.

Dreamer! Mint condition isf 08 with circa 50k on the clock flsh etc. Can't see that at all. Happy to be proven wrong by some one who had seen one at that price point.

As I say, would be interesting to get feedback from someone who actually sees the car. Could be marked leather, dinks, lots of stone chips etc, poor advert that reveals little about how the car has been maintained or looked after.

As far as I'm LED to believe, no, it's classed as a car of the "United Kingdom & channel isles ". Insurance was another £40 to renewal from my IS 250 SE-L. I did have my concerns, I nearly bought a "Singapore " celica along time ago, this was an import, insurance was more than double, but like I say, was many many years ago. Not sure if views of imports have changed in insurance terms & views .

my brother has his own insurance business and i usually help him out, with my small bit of knowledge from there i can defo say that underwriters have a different view on import cars and can be more expensive to insure.. but it all depends on make n model and personal situations.

I assume insurance wasn't a lot more due to being 43...lol, I don't have protected no claims, legal cover etc, it's all to get additional premiums from u. Coming from a family of insurance workers (baring me) I know that whatever they can avoid paying out on they will......as for IS-F 500, I may well stand corrected, but was always LED to believe when first produced, they where goin to limit the build to 500, was LED to believe it was never intended as a mass production car, just to prove it could be done better than merc n BMW, some thought it was to tie in with being a 5 ltr engine, I may well stand corrected tho, as I assume there was more than 500 made 👍
