Lexus are no different, I went in my local lexus dealer, all I wanted was the cover that fit's inside the latch hole where the locking clip fits from cover that's between the fronts seats because after I had fitted the OEM armrest from an Auto, the only bit missing was the cover about 50p's worth, the reply from the spares man was 'That'll be £35 please as it only comes with the centre consul, I didn't bother answering just walked out.

The moral of this story is 'Lexus are no better than any other manufacture'

is not just motor dealers, theres been loads of 'little bits' i've needed for various things and ended up having to buy the whole thing at a silly price to get the bit i wanted or make my own/bodge it/improvise - call it what you will

While replacing a blown headlight bulb on my Nissan 200SX, I lost the spring-clip that holds the bulb into the reflector. Went to the Nissan dealer and asked for a new spring-clip. "Sorry sir, this part is not sold separately, you can only get it as part of a complete new headlight unit". Cost £160 + VAT !

I ended up holding the bulb in place by wedging a piece of radiator hose between it and the bulkhead behind it!

hmm i had a similar experiance with Toyota/Lexus spares dept over in Twickenham.

Hi im after the open/close switch for the sat nav.

sorry sir, only comes with the whole sat nav unit.

come again.

the switch, you can only get it with the complete sat nav unit.

So your telling me that to replace a switch, i have to fork out 3000/4000 quid.

Yes sir.

thats crap.

.......

we then get into a conversation about replacing switches on videos, with him tellimg me that a repair man couldnt do it, and me telling him thats is what a repair man would do.

i put then phone down..

i then ring up again.

perhaps i didnt make myself clear, im after the pcb board inside the switch,

yes sir, you still cannot get this item by itself.

I then contact Chris Shipley, who give me the part number and price.

i then ring twickenham back.

id like to order a part please

certainly sir, what part is that.(i give them the part number.)

we dont carry stock sir, but we can have it here tomorrow.

err ok..

i go down there the next day.

so how come one of your guys tells me you cant get this part, yet i am able to get the part number for you.

errr eerrrrr,,

shut up and take my money.you useless :tsktsk:.. or words very similar

I've had the same thing at a Toyota dealer. Tried to order an exhaust cover bracket for my MR2. Told you have to buy the whole cover. Went home, looked through my parts CD, got the part number, phoned them up and ordered it and collected it 3 days later.
