  1. Yeah, they are extremely expensive for what they are. A cheaper option is to import them from Japan for half the price, including shipping. 04946-30110 Regardless, I'm not sure they'll cure a "clunk" type of sound, the shims mostly help with rattles or squealing.

  2. There should be two sets of shims. A thin black inner shim that hooks onto the the back of the pad, plus there's also a silver outer one which goes on top. On a complete setup, you should be able to see the 4 shim "hooks" on each pad.

  3. Simply put, there isn't a market for the F range in the UK. The reason they don't sell quick, is because they're not suaght after. Sadly anyone with visions of a £30k+ ISF selling quickly is living in the US market. The UK is just not the place for the ISF (well not yet). It doesn't matter what you have, only another enthusiast or someone that knows what they want, will go for it. To other people it's an over priced V8 that is not desirable. I wish it wasn't!

  4. ….Malcolm - thank you…..how nice are you ! yes, all my passenger’s were so thrilled, when they first saw The Lexus, to be collected in a limo - then so silently whisked up to Edinburgh City - many drifting off to a blissful sleep in the back seat ! I used to tease them and say ‘ I understand you asked the office for the limousine, today’ - alway’s raised surprise and a chuckle 😃. probably around 5 of the total 10.5k miles, within 6+ month’s on cc dutie’s - all without missing a beat ! anthony

  5. Better to have driven and sweated than never to have driven at all. Or something like that.

  8. Lovely car and right up my street - good friend of mine had one and raved about it (didn’t have a chance to drive it sadly)…certainly worth a look but I wonder if practical enough

  9. We export our excess solar with Octopus for 15p/kWh and charge the car for 7.5p/kWh overnight. It's only a small saving but over the years it'll add up.

  10. ….hello, Malcolm and thank you for your suggestion. a test drive ? of course, I shall be happy to demonstrate all the available and legal performance parameter’s of The LS plus any ancillary on-board driving support system’s ! will the Prospective Buyer be able to test drive The Lexus on The King’s Highway ? yes but only if they can produce a dedicated, hard copy, Insurance Certificate for my Lexus LS 400 - Registration No: OYY 655. why is that ? one may say - I have my Personal Comprehensive Insurance Certificate that, clearly, show’s a clause stating: Malcolm may also drive a motor car or motorcycle registered in the UK, Channel Island’s, or Isle of Man, which does not belong to them and is not hired to them under a hire purchase scheme.** ‘so what, exactly, is your problem, Anthony, in my test driving your car, today ?’ simple’s - my response would be: please remember that cover for driving another car or motorcycle is limited to Third Party Only which means there is no cover for any loss or damage to the vehicle being driven.** still a No - the car is not for you then, sir ! ( the only exception may be a test drive on one’s private land, that’s a no from me, or maybe a car park or other area not on the King’s Highway ) anthony **extracted directly from my current NFU Mutual Comprehensive Certificate of Motor Insurance.

  11. Previous owners had 3 youngsters. I think a sugary drink spill was left in the flat section which has discoloured the black leather. The car had been standing unused for 6 months plus, I found an apple from the same time in the rear console box. I had a quote for a full seat restoration but it was outside my budget and at that level probably unnecessary. I have used some leather recolouring balm/dye and some conditioner which has improved things nicely. The car has only 86k mileage so seat leather is in pretty good shape throughout other than the main seat panels which obviously get dried in the sun, or hold any water if the roof is left open in a rain shower.

  12. I maybe doing even better, with Octopus .... Between 05:30 - 23:30 we pay: 27.94p per kWh Between 23:30 - 05:30 we pay: 7.50p per kWh 😃 However, not forgetting, there is also a standing charge of 47.85p per day on top of the above which we have to pay no matter what. Double However, However, during a sunny 🌞 day the solar panels and associated batteries 🔋 charge the Lexus for FREE, albeit the £1000's I had to pay inadvance for all the install 😟.

  13. Is that what they charge at public charge stations? A big difference from the 9p per Kwh I'm paying for 'Octopus Go' each night. At my indicated 2.4 mile/Kwh I calculate that 33 miles is costing £1.24. At £1.49/litre for petrol, 33 miles of pure ICE only is costing £6.77, which is 5.5 times more. Even the Octopus daytime rate of 26.778 p/Kwh, it is 1.8 times cheaper than petrol.

  14. An update from the dealer: "My apologies for the confusion, I thought you were asking for the protection plate which is not available for your vehicle. The product enhancement for your vehicle has not been released to the network yet and we have not been given an ETA on when it will be provided." So it looks as if the April 26 date in the orginal statement from Lexus was primarily to get Watchdog off their backs - or am I being too cynical?

  15. Just to add to this thread. I have recently bought an SC430 with a non operational Mark Levinson sound system. I located a blown 5A component fuse on the main pcb which had a dry joint so managed to revive the unit. I have been experimenting with it and I get the feeling that the head unit and amp section can get out of sync in the setup of Balance, Pan, Bass, Mid and Treble sections. Once happy with its operation, I re-centered all the head controls to "zero" and then disconnected the earth battery cable for 30 mins or so in order to re-sync both elements. I may be wrong but I certainly feel the default is now true and I can reach all extremes available in their range. Obviously this may be the case anytime you disconnect the battery for other reasons. Hope this helps
