  1. welcome to LOC not heard of many head gaskets going on an IS mate!! in the 3 years i've owned mine i've not had, touch wood, a single problem with it in terms of engine etc - just standard wear and tear issues. they are great value for money at the minute and are a VERY reliable car. if you want speed, you need to s/c it really from the standard lump, or of course more exhaustive work like engine swaps, turbo, etc. They're very comfortable for didstance driving and can be reasonable on fuel if you treat it right - but they are by no means economical!lol! hope you sell the FTO easily enough and join the ranks. welcome again mate rob
  2. sounds good to me paul - 1ish ok with everyone else?? good meeting you earlier mate!! ur car looked spot on fella - very unique and some very tasteful mods carried out with great attention to detail mate!! keep up the hard work fella! rob
  3. yup, one per lexus dealership. so about 50 IIRC. seen a few around
  4. i know mate - just thought i'd ask as we could then offer that date as a suggestion. anyhow, what date do most peeps want then??
  5. as said, any date is cool with me - sat or sunday. whatever's easier for the majority... stav, what can you do another weekend in may?
  6. happy birthday lads, have a good one!!!
  7. mate i honestly reckon u should buy one from the UK as you can bet ur bottom dollar (excuse the pun :shutit: ) that it won't work as it should over here and will end up being a waste of cash?? like i said, the pioneer lot said NOT to buy it from the states, but i'm sure there may be ways around things but i'm not clued up at all when it comes to ICE etc. hope you get it sorted either way mate - look forward to seeing what headunit you opt for rob
  8. IIRC i emailed pioneer about a unit i was gonna buy in the US and they said it wouldn't fully work in the UK for some reason or the other (can't find the damn email!!lol!!) and it'd be best to buy one in the UK......
  9. hey thanks for this, was very helpful, think i will go for the jvc, can get it from the states, with the weak dollar at the moment it works out at about that much, will there not be problems using a US stereo on a UK car?? i dunno why there should, but for some reason i seem to remember reading that on here somewhere?? could be me talking poop again, lol!! things like sat nav wouldn't work i'd guess? and dvd compatibility?

think this is the same sort of stuff i need for my rear skirt?? may be a good shout (assuming a few people want it) if we get a large roll and everyone chips in then just split it - might work out better value??
  11. i will watch this thread with interest as i've been having a mooch around ebay for a nice double din touch screen unit - but i really have no idea about car audio stuff so lost amongst all the possibilities out there!! i'll start another thread to save crappin this one up though mate..... that kenwood unit looks tasty - but more than 450 euros as stevie said..... what functions/feautures u after mate? the car pc's are great, but a lot of work i believe. i remember ahmet (surgical virus) had one in his IS300 and that was superb. a few other members have done similar so might be worth a search. i think anees also had one, but could be wrong?? rob
  12. yea, whichever suits most matey. i remember a meet at plank and leggit late one friday evening (think kazi wen to that and some other si don't recall now) and that was a wicked evening. but an afternoon and evening meet would be a good laugh - could get the pub involved so maybe they can cordon an area of the car park off and have our cars laid out in a show like arrangement for people to look at?? we did that before with Ultrajap and it was a great event and got loads of interest..... just summit different and may make people travel from further afield to attend??
  13. good shout that man!! they do BOGOF on the food all week so that'll be ideal for those wanting munch!!
  14. stav/aztec, any date that would be better with you guys?? be good to have you both there.... i'm pretty flexible on the dates so can work around others if it helps?? the more the merrier!!!
  15. hey up paul, yea the plank and leggit in long eaton is an old faithful and a great little venue for midland meets. i'm in!! lets try and get some sort of dates pencilled in?? how about 3rd or 10th may?? just a couple random dates in the nearish future?? rob
  16. as far as i know though mate, the grom audio kit will not work if your stereo is model number 13902 (printed on the front of the stereo). mine is as above so i didn't bother chancing buying one..... welcome to LOC by the way mate rob
  17. just from skim reading it, sounds very similar to the BS that was circulated regarding 'klein gas' or brown's gas. the problem with electrolysis of water (i.e electrically splitting a molecule of water into its constituent atoms) is that the enrgy required to do so far exceeds the amount of energy regained by utilising it/burning it. Yes, it will work, and has been utilised in innovation labs etc for a number of years, but isn't at the stage yet (to my knowledge) that allows it to be used economically by the everyday citizen. we have an innovation centre next door to us who are working on H2 fuel cells at the minute and have just finished one of the only H2 fuelled motorbikes in the world (IIRC it uses a MeOH stock solvent base) - very impressive bit of stuff and i was fortunate enough to have a good nosey around it a few months back.
  18. nice one mate, look great. where abouts in leicester u from matey?? have to meet up and see them in the flesh so to speak. rob
  19. I have a pretty large, heavy package i need to ship over to my folks in the US. Its approximately 2m long by a metre wide and weighs 20kg at a guess. is anybody able to provide me with some contact details/company info of who i can use to get it over there that's not gonna cost the earth, but be reasonably quick and reliable cheers in advance rob
  20. Bump.... still on the look out for some 18's - was meant to be having a set off Sam, but not heard back from him so if anyone knows of any nice sets going at the mo then please let me know cheers rob
  21. sure u could shoe-horn a charger in there as well mate B)
  22. ain't that the truth - that was my initial plan, but costs just spiral!! mind you, I potentially have something in the pipelines to get me to 350ish bhp :winky: but all depends how things pan out...
