  1. I agree. Fog lights on without fog are a serious anoyance and can be blinding to other drivers. I have seen a few people stopped over here for haveing them on but not enough. If someone comes up behind me with their fogs on they get my rear fogs as a taste of their own.
  2. Here you go, problem solved New Seat Covers :winky:
  3. I'm not trying to say your making this up but I have to ask. Are you sure that the 412miles wasn't from your full tank i.e. just over 60 litres. If so that would be 31.7mpg which would in it'self would be impressive but a lot more understandable. I don't think anyone has claimed 43mpg before. Even cruising on a motorway at 80mph the guage will only barely make it to above 40mpg.
  4. Why are you accepting the hire car?. Go back into them, drop the keys on the managers table and insist you are not leaving until they give you another IS or higher level car to drive while you wait. If you get no joy them tell him your next stop is to your solicitors office with a view to rejecting the car or looking for compensation. Also mention a few local papers that might be interested in hearing about the drop in customer services at his dealership.
  5. I think you will find he means the wheels that were fitted to the 1st gen IS in the last couple of years which were multi spoked not the new IS ones. You've totally lost me mate - I was also on about those wheels in my first post, in that post I was referring to his friends comparing the performance of the Focus ST to the old IS, they're aimed at different markets and so are different animals.. Doh!. Didn't read the post above yours.

  7. These are the other version i had made, the standard ones will be the rising sun version, this one, maybe a TTE Supercharged version for all the charger guys and gals out there, a SPORT version and a altezza version. Oh and trying to do a version for auto IS200 as well! Jason :P Just tell me how much and what the postage is to Dublin.
  8. I think it looks a bit like an old style Opel (Vaxhaul) Astra at the front to be honest. Merc Front it does in this picture anyway.
  9. I would insist on a new one. If the boot doesn't sit right you could be talking a lot more then just your bumper. lift the carpet in the boot and see if anything looks to be compressed or out of symmetry. If yes then it will be a very big job. I know a guy whose insurance company wrote his IS off when he was hit from behind. Car still drove fine but the repair costs even at the cosmetic level were to high.
  10. Funny you should say that, when i had them made i had another set made that just has the lexus name and logo printed on it as i didn't know what these ones would look like on the car. The others are sat here next to me now!!!!!! however, under LOC rules i can't sell unless i have a traders liscense............oh well, looks like you will all have to wait.................but hopefully not long Jason :P You could always stick them on ebay. If you do please say nothing on here because that would probably be against the rules. However a quick PM to me to let me know about the auction I am sure would be OK. Make sure you put a "Buy Now" price as well.
  11. We have the same wheel problems in ireland and we don't salt our roads. We use grit only.
  12. Firstly. Caps imply you are shouting so no need. Second. There is no such thing as an IS400 Third. There is no button in the IS 200 or 300 to change the lights for driving on the opposite side of the road.
  13. Any ideas whereabouts? I've had a look but to no avail... J Don't know how you get into it on the UK site but this is it on the Irish site. Lexus Privilege you go into "My Lexus" and you can register in there. I can only assume there is an equivalent UK site
  14. You could just buy a couple of square head screws. Not many thieves carry a square head screw driver around.
  15. Register on the Lexus website as an owner. You need you reg and I think your VIN number as well.
  16. I'm a driving instructor who teaches in an automatic. It is a Nissan Micra and has done more miles over the 6 years of use that some cars do in a life time. It will hold itself on very steep for just long enough for my pupils to get on the gas pedal without it rolling backwards. My GS300 which has hardly got warm in it's life time will not hold itself at all. In my experience of driving many automatics, it depends on the car and the size and weight of it. Some semi-auto's like Toyota's MMT and Vauxhall's easy-tronic will not creep at all, let alone hold themselves on a hill. I could be wrong here but to my knowledge there are different types of automatic boxes. Some never disengage to clutch so will hold on most hills. Some though as a fuel saving method will completely disengage on a flat surface or when the brake pedal is down and the car is stopped and partially on a hill if it detects the car rolling back. However this has a limit so will allow it to slip to get you to use the brake.
  17. I have always had a very selfish view on the security issue. I just try to make sure My security is a little better then the car next to me. And I do agree that a visible mechanical device is always good. It might only take them 30 seconds to get by it but if the car beside doesn't have one which one do you think they will go for.
  18. Also, if you had hit something it might have been a lot more difficult to prove it was a fault with the car. They might have tried to blame the fault on the crash and you hitting the wrong pedal or something.
  19. Hideous road tax. You don't know how lucky you are over there. In Ireland we pay €539 (about £380) a year road tax.
  20. I thought I read some place on these forums that they were having problems with an IS hybrid because they couldn't find a place for the battery. The boot is already small so they don't want to reduce it. However, if they do manage it I think I would be right up there in the queue.
  21. Yep. The straight 6 is considered the best configuration for engine smoothness. A 4 pot can be very rough which wouldn't suit the Lexus image at all.
  22. I can't remember the year ranges but on early years I think a second push of the lock button deadlocks it and on later models the second push (within 10secs) deactivates the internal sensors.
  23. Why would anyone bring their car through an automatic carwash. They destroy the finish. If you can't be bothered washing it yourself then at least go to a place that does it by hand.
  24. I prefer it that way... Well there you go. Just shows that you can't really take seat position advice from anyone. All our bodies are different and everyone needs to play around with their seating position in a new car untill they feel comfortable. Sorry
