  1. Best wishes to you both... Fingers crossed for some nice weather on Saturday. Are Lexus providing top class transport for this event ?
  2. Mine passed it's 2'nd MOT couple of weeks back. Both with s/c + no pre-cats. Easy through limits.. Tester took it for a 'test drive' beforehand to warm it all up nicely :)
  3. a sensor monitors intake air pressure and feeds this info to engine ecu. normally it sees vacuum as engine sucks air in. imagine the confusion caused by adding s/c or turbo. ecu says... huh? wassup? +ve pressure... help... limp home.... the tte sub-ecu (black or silver) fiddles the signal so the engine ecu doesn't 'see' +ve pressure. pretty much any add on turbo or s/c kit will have a similar gizmo. any car... not just lexus. hope that helps. oh, ref my fingers, they're just very stiff at the mo and reluctant to do as they're told :duh:
  4. at 50 rpm before fuel cut it backs the throttle valve off a bit. so should never hit fuel cut. pls excuse brief reply. struggling to type. my fingers are messed up at the mo (along with the rest of me) :)
  5. Is that close to Bush'n'Blairs favourite town - WARMONGER ?
  6. If those bhp numbers are right, pre-cats probably broken.
  7. Can't read oriental writing but could hazard a guess as to what it does. Varies the signal seen by the ecu from the manifold pressure sensor (PIM). Perhaps to fool the ecu into altering the fuelling ? This (PIM) is the same signal which needs fiddling when fitting s/c or turbo. Otherwise ecu expecting to see vacuum gets confused when rammed with +'ve pressure :) Just as a footnote, the writing 'might' say ... Don't waste your time fitting this on a car running closed loop like an IS200. The ecu is cleverer than that and would spot your fiddling by the exhaust sensor. I'm just guessing that bit, it might not be right :)
  8. Ooh it's a 4x4.... Look out for low bridges :) . . . . . PS - Nice wheels :winky:
  9. Yikes That doesn't sound good. Hope you weren't seriously injured. If the B-post got pushed in, it'll be a gonner i reckon
  10. Dyno run was down on power. Then with manifold off, shook it and bits fell out :) Middle of one pre-cat had blown out and wedged in a bend near the bottom of the manifold. It's not just s/c cars, pre-cats have been known to break up on standard cars too.
  11. My pre-cats broke up and that was with the later silver piggyback ecu box too. For those that think their's are ok... How do you know ? Even if you don't get them removed now, i'd look to have it done before long.
  12. If the screen isn't watertight, odd things may happen when the water gets in behind the dash.
  13. I thought Ian tried that already and blew up the multimeter too Sorry Ian.. :D
  14. Perhaps +12V refers to the voltage of the lighter... As opposed to +24V for example.
  15. There's a common 'negative' signal wire shared by the 4 'positives'
  16. What happens if you use different fingers ? Different menus ? :iraqi-info-minister:
  17. Are they the ones under the floor that just get dusted occasionally ??
  18. Had a quick go with one... Pretty tricky to get going i found. Obviously i'm a bit lacking with the required wrist action :D
  19. The connector for the speakers is the thinner one (with 16 slots). Also contains power wires (for the whole system) + wires to nav system. The fatter connector (18 slots) connects to the head unit. Book shows 2 shielded groups (signal wires + power wires). Note that head unit takes it's power from the amp.
