  1. i sent an electronic one but have all my passwords etc
  2. If people are uncomfortable leaving comments of problems they have had then just U2U me with details and it will go no further than myself! cheers rob.
  3. i can see your point that general was meant to be used for off-topic posts, but after looking thru it i can see a lot of car related and a lot that aren't. As the club is growing at a fairly rapid rate i am looking at the future as i can see general getting 'ropey'. well thats my opinion anyway - just thought i would throw it out in the open for comments. cheers rob.
  4. not sure if this has been mentioned before?? but how about a separate area for totally off topic subjects rather than using the general forum?????
  5. if you are just getting the 'clunk' i would be surprised if anything is done, the second you start getting the 'wont engage 2nd' syndrome then get it sorted - but i belive now the policy is to just replace the syncro ring/hub instead of replacing the gearbox - i am meant to have had the redesigned box bt i am starting to get the first signs again! ( no its not my driving style - driven other 200's not a prob)
  6. mine (and now is) was the same, if the engine is at redline then gearchange is smoother than at lower revs/speeds. (strange)
  7. Chris, if it is difficult or sometimes notchy to engage 2nd gear or you get a destinct 'clunk' when engaging 2nd gear that is the start of the problem. this can also affect 3rd gear.
  8. 1.couldnt select gears/stiff gear change 2.1st and 2nd sometimes 3rd 3.yes 4.gearbox replaced 5.In Holland appauling service. In uk dealer was very good. 6. 11/1999 SE model. update: am now starting to get first signs of gearbox problem again!!! [Edited on 28-4-2002 by fluff34567]
  9. hi all, I have seen a few of us have experienced gearbox trouble, so i am trying to guage how many people/symptoms/dealer response/ problem cured etc can you please briefly list: 1.Symptoms 2.Which gears affected 3.Have you done something done about it 4.What was done to correct it 5.Dealer/ lexus reponse 6. year/month of vehicle manufacture even if you think u MAY have a prob please say so or if you are getting stiff gearchanges every now and then. Thanks for your time [Edited on 28-4-2002 by fluff34567]
  10. mmmm i know this isnt much help but the only thing i can suggest is take the car to a reputable car audio/electonics shop and ask them to sort it out or try and do it yourself - you can always go into the parts dept and ask them to tell you where the switch is or show you on the microfiche/cd. but if the switch is shorted/bypassed i think you will have the parkbrake warning light on all the time and you might get the little 'chime' as you first drive away, you would really need to find out what other systems are linked into this switch first. just thought - ask dealer if they would be prepared to modify if you signed a statement of no responsibility etc etc
  11. i have spoken with rachel on a number of times and she has proved to be very helpful in the past.
  12. sorry im not fortunate to have an Ls all i can suggest is speak to the dealer and ask them to modify it for you - might not be just a case of shorting the switch as depends what else is linked into the handbrake system.
  13. have a look thru ur anti perforation warranty leaflet etc as the body is meant to be galvanised - if ur dealer isnt willing to do anything then speak to the head office and bitch about it.
  14. hi vic, tte compressor ok have a look at this link http://teamlexus.co.uk/forums/viewthread.php?tid=498 look towards the ottom of the post. also please use the 'search' facility at the top L/H corner loads of info via there. :D rob. admin has reminded me that TDI made an offer to Team Lexus members of a discount on the supercharger kit - contact TDI for more details but i remember it was £3000 +vat. 15. hi vic, it is a characteristic of the car ONLY because the gearbox design is S**T!! the cause is the syncro ring/hub wearing they are only brass( or that type of material) I have been told that lexus have pin pointed the item/cause of the wear and now they are replacing these components only - in my case i got a complete gearbox( redesigned) but i am now starting to get the first signs of trouble again!! Go back to your dealer and tell them you know there is a known problem with the gearboxes and you want it sorted if they are being difficult about it say you will contact the head office. thiss normally gets a response! keep me posted! cheers rob.
  16. ok what you have described is what the IS does as well if u push the lock twice. what is happening is that you are disabling the alarm system, but the vehicle is still locked/imobilised - this should be discussed in the owners manual. hope this helps Rob.
  17. yeah they look damn hot in those 6" heels!! whoops wrong forum again!
  18. very true sam! i know that they can be a pain but if you have to do something then just spray them with a bit of water - after a while they stay away! or get a cover i use one but its more to stop the seagulls walking on the roof and scratching it.
  19. hi les, the way to stop the pads squealing is to put loads of copper grease on the little spring washers that are on/next to the pads - this is normally the cause. if u look hard you should see what i mean.
  20. for scratches i just use turtle wax scratch and swirl remover - i have used it on deep scratches, they wont be removed but they will be less noticable.
  21. posted earlier! - sorry! http://teamlexus.co.uk/forums/viewthread.php?tid=82 :D [Edited on 23-4-2002 by fluff34567]
  22. ok here is definitive proof that the dash light colour can be changed ( hearing monger stories of 'cant be done' ' its LEDS' etc etc) it involves bulb covers.... well here is the link look for yourself http://www.is300.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t...03374&forum=4&9
  23. i thought 3 weeks was a bit long but we will see what happens as at the same time i have to try and get the front end clicking and the gearbox(again) sorted out. btw - i managed to get all the cd's out - little trickery involved in that one:D [Edited on 22-4-2002 by fluff34567]
  24. not happy this morning - my cd player has decided to stop working - cant play, load or eject it then switches itself off and just lots of whirrring, it still grabs the cd but then they dissaper into the deep dark abyss of the dash. i spoke to the dealer today and i have to wait about 3 weeks for a replacement! arse!
