  1. i often have asparagus with sausagesand some peach chutney! wierd i know but great and also sometimes a peanut butter with loads of bovril sandwich. hmmmmmmmmmmmm!
  2. well what can i say? it used to be because every username i wanted ages ago was taken, the fluff(y) bit now refers to a certain incident i encountered (which wont be revealed! ahem!) and the 34567 was just because!
  3. can everybody who u2u'd me please do so again as in my move( im back in UK now) i seem to have misplaced the list for kits - Dont worry people u will still get a kit - it is as u read this being road tested, instructions, ease of fitting at home, etc etc (when i fitted mine i was in a workshop with all the equip) cheers rob.
  4. i also get the very slight rocking not all the time its maybe every few seconds i can just about feel it - but i think this is because i know its there i am looking for it - again as you say its really only when its cold. rob.
  5. just a bit of background info for you the old type of cd changer( slot at the bottom) was made by fujitsuten and the newer models are made by pioneer. you might find it a bit hard to "have a look" at the speakers as they are riveted onto the door frame so u would have to drill out the rivets first.
  6. the dealer wont be able to remove the cd's unless they know the power connections - to open the radio is near impossible - when the have a faulty unit the cd's are returned about a week later by the company that repairs the units ( auto sound)
  7. guys, guys, guys - you are worrying over nothing - the smell is caused and created in the AC condensor, it is the matrix where the air is cooled and as a result water is condensed out of the air ( noticed the puddle on the floor before?) As the condensor matrix is normally always wet it promotes the growth of fungi/ mold etc, it is this which causes the smell. you have 2 ways to stop this - get the smoke bomb type of cleaner, you put the AC on recirc, close all the windows etc and then activate the canister it is drawn thru the matrix and kills the fungi and leaves ur car with a nice smell. other option is to place a tube up the AC condensor outlet ( under the car) and spray in a special foam that also kills the fungi. Its Steves lucky day as i happen to "have" a can or 2 at my disposal so when im back in the Uk next week ill post it to you - i Have tried to use it on my IS but the Ac outlet pipe took a few 90 degree turns so i couldnt get the pipe in all the way.:( cheers rob.
  8. it doesnt really matter what colour the coolant is - how often do you admire it:lol: As long as you are mixing the same type ie ethyl glycol and ethyl glycol and not alcohol and ethyl glycol etc etc. If you look in your users manual then it lists the types and specs of the fluides you should use.
  9. here are the promised wiring diagrams for people wishing to convert thier fogs to act as brake lights - the fogs will also act normally when required. With this mod the only difference will be that you get 5 brake lights instead if the normal 3. Please note that if you carry out this mod you will assume ALL responsibility for any consequences in doing so - If anything goes wrong its your fault.!!! I can if required make up a few ready made kits ( wire directly into/ draw power from the brake light type) the cost will be only for the raw materials, postage and packing etc. - I will not make any money on this. To be fair to everybody the first 5 people who PM me will have the kits made for them. I have to find out the total cost but it wont be very much - below 10 pounds sterling easily. cheers rob.
  10. in reply to admins Q - the fogs operate as they normally do, the only diff is that they come on when you brake - apart from that nothing has changed. i couldnt find a disc today to ill put the diag up on thurs i suppose. cheers rob.
  11. hi , i have changed my wiring a little to allow the rear fogs to also act as brake lights, but they wil also be foglights only. it took me about an hour to do( working out wires and joints etc) but alls well now - only thing i have noticed is that the fogs, althought the same wattage as the brake lights, are a little bit brighter! Ill be putting up a wiring diagram and what equip is needed in the next day or so. But in the meantime if anyone has any Q's PM me. please note that this mod is NOT road legal, and if you also choose to do this any consequences will be your sole responsibility.
  12. HEY those dice are mine!!!
  13. well first try the lube(ohh err!) but it could also be the spring clip that is inside the door that provides you with the various open positions when the door is open. I am just guessing here of course but i would seriously question the dealers suggestion at hte body flexing to an extent where it is clicking! (arse and talking out of, springs to mind LOL!)
  14. i would say that as you are lowering the car there will be a change in the headlight level but this only takes about 5 mins to adjust - any garage that has the beam measurement trolly/equip can do it as it is only a screw arrangement for the level - you will see it if you look at the back of the lights.
  15. the clicking noises i was experiencing was as it turned out to be the brake pads moving in the calipers slightly -as stated occurs when turning and applying the brakes etc., i took the pads out and applied a bit of copper slip to the backings and the contact faces and the sound has gone away.
  16. Hi all, as im home for a few days i will be clearing up the workshop section and making a few changes to the posts....... so if you notice ur post has gone dont be alarmed! please note all additional information will be intergrated into the updated posts. regard rob.
  17. hi all, if you have scratched your dash by some means (ahem):( then there is a company called 'plastic surgeon' a franchise BTW, they can fix little marks and scratches on ur dash easily - my dealer used them as a dash got scratched when a radio/cd unit was being exchanged. They can even do the lighter coloured section of the dash on the IS series - belive they respray it?? Now can they do that a different colour for those of us that way inclined????
  18. speaker upgrade advice/door trim removal pics re posted in workshop section. [Edited on 13-6-2002 by fluff34567]
  19. mmmmm - I had a fully detailed write up with pics in the workshop dept, but since steve re designed the site all the attachments have dissapeared! ( STEVE!!!!!!) the clip you are looking for is actually on the pivot of the chrome door handle, there is one at the top and one at the bottom, i used a little screwdriver but be aware you will most likely mark the plastic a bit but dont worry it is not visible. what you have to do is pry the door handle surround down a bit ( for the lower clip, and up for the top clip) and pull the door cover away at the same time the clips are a bit of a pain but it will come off. pm me if ur having difficulty i also recommend removing the tweeter cover( just pulls off) before removing the door cover as it makes life a bit easier.
  20. i know exactly what ur talking about - i tried to take my leatherman apart and it has the same type of screws on it - i gave up in the end, what a pain in the arse!!!
  21. as in the pic most of my chips were on the front 1/4 of the bonnet and i got ****** off woth filling them in all the time so thats why i got the x-pel kit since then i have had one chip but that has gone thru the plastic! so i hould hate to think how big it would have been if the plastic wasnt there??
  22. i asked about having mine disconnected and the answer was" yes no probs it takes about 15 mins"so i suggest if u want it disconnected go to another dealer - the buzzer is behind the dash console alsoso u could find it urself and then disconnect it.
  23. mmmm it seams very strange that everybody is suffering from exactly the same symptoms! Sounds like a bad batch of internals to me out of tolerance??? I mean syncro mesh has been around since the 50's so you would have thought they could have got it right by now!! I had the oil changed the other day and it has helped a fair bit but the old oil was only in for 5K! we will see what happens !
