  1. The other day I was pumping up the tyres on my 2004 LS430 as the front nearside likes to go down on its own for no reason I can find. Whilst pumping up the tyre (using my electric tyre pump) I had a play about with the high setting on the suspension. It seemed to go up by an inch or two. I was just wondering what you might use this setting for? Many thanks.
  2. I bet he knocked his tracking out a little bit.
  3. As a driving instructor and having both taught in a Ford Ka and a Nissan Micra, I would defanitly take the Micra any day. Mine is a 2000 model, 1.4 auto and it just keeps going and going. Just keep it serviced every 12 months or 9,000 miles, which ever comes first and it will last a life time. I even got 70,000 miles out of my front discs.
  4. I would recomend Lexus Woodford as they have always done the servicing on my old 2001 GS300. They also done some warrenty work on my LS430 and couldn't have been more helpfull. Speak to James the service manager.
  5. I see your monkey's a**e, and raise you a baboons bottom.
  6. Arn't you covered by the AA or RAC should such a thing happen? :duh:
  7. Well, lets put this into some presepctive. I have a 2000 Nissan Micra 1.4SE+ CVT Auto which I use every day as my driving school car. I cover about 35,000 miles per year. I believe that checking on that particular web-site where those figures came from, I put out 14 tons of Co2 per year. Compare that to the 5 tons my LS430 puts out every year, possibly even less as I do less than 10,000 per year, it makes my LS seem greener than a Prius and my Micra dirtier than a Kenworth truck.
  8. I think the front passanger airbag was the most entertaining to see deploy.
  9. Isn't it nice for a change to have a nice and easy fix to a problem that had lots of warning lights.
  10. My old GS300SE 2001 used to do exactly the same thing. I had it checked out by a Lexus dealer (kind of giving them the chance to charge me millions) and they said there was nothing wrong with it.
  11. I also thought that the engines in both the LS400 and LS430 were interference engines. I know in my old GS300 that it also had an interference engine. I still don't trust it lasting 100,000 miles.
  12. I'm with Mikeb on that one. Was told when my one had a 60,000 service, that the cambelt was good for 100,000 miles. I'm going to have mine done in the next year or so. Just for peace of mind. Id hate to hear what all those bending valves would sound like.
  13. Hi Anuj According to my service book, the 60,000 is a major one but this time it will have new spark plugs. In terms of freebies, you might get a free lap dance from the nice lady who works at reception I can't remember how much the service cost though as this was done by Lexus Hatfield before picking the car up a few months ago. Sorry I can't be of any more help.
  14. My LS had it's first MOT just before I picked it up a few months ago from Lexus Hatfield so fingers crossed when it goes back next year, all I will have to shell out for is the price for the MOT. Thanks anyway for the heads-up Graham.
  15. Good news about your MOT. It's nice when they pass. Lets hope my LS430 doesn't cause any grief when it's due next year.
  16. I think depending on where you go depends on what the course entails. I know the courses around Hertfordshire you will spend some time in a classroom learning about why you shouldn't speed and then you will spend some time driving with an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) so you can at least find out how to reduce the chances of you speeding. I've always been of the opinion that it doesn't matter what you drive, it will only go as fast as you push that accelerator pedal so there really isn't an excuse if your caught speeding. Saying that, if the speed enforcement camera's were used properly, I'm sure there would be less speeding fines given out.
  17. The most I ever got out of my 2001 GS300SE NAV was 31mpg on a motorway. This was without using the cruise. The best so far out of my LS430 is 28mpg. Again on the motorway without cruise. It's now down to 21mpg. When using my GS300 for my ROSPA driving course, when we looked at overtaking, I managed to get it down to 7mpg.
  18. After seeing this, I suppose I can add it to the very long list of things I need to discuss with my therapist.
  19. That's a very nice LS you got there. Hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine. Welcome.
  20. I think the best way to get a good shine on it is to spend a quiet afternoon, with a bit of classic FM a bottle of Autoglym a couple of dusters and enjoy the afternoon to yourself. I'm planning on polishing mine every other month.
  21. I never named my GS or my current LS but I did have a couple of names for my old Peugeot driving school car. One was "Start you B*****D" The other was "For F***S Sake Come On" Anyone who has owned anything french will know exactly what I'm on about.
  22. That's a nice motor you got there. I just got rid of my 2001 GS300SE. One of the best cars I've ever had. Quiet, powerfull and it had one of the best sounding 6 cylender engines I've heard, bar an M3CSL. Hope you enjoy your new motor.
  23. Hi people. I seem to have a parking sensor on the back bumber, far drivers side that seems to think that there is somthing there when there isn't and guess what, it is an intermittent problem. I have made sure it is clean, polished it, buffed it, but it still seems to think that somthing is there. It's a right pain when your parking and you have a solid tone and nothing is there. The car has 11 months Lexus warrenty on it so I shall be taking it back to be looked at but does anybody know what it might be? Many thanks.
