  1. so it is definitely true, that there will be 150bhp engine. In europe will stay also 177bph, so customers can choose between IS200d and IS220d.
  2. Well I think opposite - coming from alfa 156 - one of the best driving and handling cars in it's class (also when comparing with nowadays cars), he will feel, even in IS sport, like driving a brick. But I will be waiting for your test drive and let us pls know.
  3. IS is anything but not a sport car. Hi Matus, So even the Sport version won't be closed to something sportive? I don't know your expectations but in my eyes a sport car can not have 1700kg weight, diesel engine, electric power steering and stability controll which can not be turned off. Have a try, as Parthiban said and you will see...
  4. I am sorry Matus but i am the general manager of a Lexus dealer in the south of england and i am not talking bull****. What i posted has come straight from the MY11 IS change report Lexus sent us on Friday. PM me your emal address and i will send it if you want proof. Lets face it the 220 has never been as good as it should have and if a less powerful engine drives better and the economy is better then i will be happy. Remember in the UK the biggest selling diesel engines are 150 bhp and talking to customers we have lost many sales over the years because we did not offer a less powerful alternative. This will be the last ever diesel Lexus and the next gen 3 IS will be hybrid only. So really the fact they only offer one diesel engine does not matter to them. I did not want to offend you. It looks like that this is really true. My personal opinion is, that now IS sales will drop even further. To who will be IS the competition now? To mazda 6, citroen c5.... no way to A4, 3er or c-class. This is what Lexus needed? They are destroying their own brand... I do not understand, what happened in marketing department of toyota/lexus, but obviously they should drink less sake.
  5. I don't believe, that lexus will update the IS with less power engine...even if it makes sense, as the 150bhp engine is overall better. If they do it, they will be the target for jokes from everyone. They will be the only one in the world, who updates with less power, they will be the slowest on the premium market with no option for quicker diesel engine - do not forget that with the large IS weight it will make 60mph in more than 10 seconds. Also I do not believe that the DNPR will be exchanged with DPF, as DNPR is one of the best diesel cleaning systems on the market, which DPF is certainly not. I think that whole article about IS200d is bull****.
  6. what wastegate??????????????????? who told you that?........it'll blow headgasket and/or turbo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wastegate
  7. turbo has the wastegate, so I don't think it may blow the turbo, but definitely the overall temperature will be higher when using power, so you should decrease your oilchange interval. The other questions are whether the clutch will handle the power and how the d-cat will handle more pollens. I definitely wouldn't go for such a chip.
  8. try something like this http://www.facebook.com/pages/Global-Dents/289358638734 btw I reckon that the damage is caused by human (pressing, kicking...)
  9. Do you have the electric sun blind in the parcel shelf? I am also interested, how to get there, and I do have the electric sunblind tha
  10. if you start the car and drive extra urban, the AC doesn't increase the consumption significantly but, if you have to pass the start/stop urban traffic, in 30s it can rise the consumption by 30%.
  11. why do you think that hot weather improves the mpg? The engine reaches optimum operating temperature a lot quicker from a cold start in hot weather, hence the improved mpg. the consumption increase because of cold engine run is much lower than the air condition running on full power. also, the efficiency of turbocharged engines decreases rapidly with increase of air temperature. according to my observations, the best consumption can be reached between 10 and 15 degrees celsius.
  12. why do you think that hot weather improves the mpg?
  13. for how much you can get the flywheel in UK? here it is about 3000€ / original part. Non original goes about 1500-2000.
  14. is220d uses the chain. It has to be replaced when it will be worn out (you will be able to hear this) If you don't drive like a pig, it should last "forever"
  15. I am lazy to translate it by myself, so this is slovak article translated via google http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=sk&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fauto.sme.sk%2Fc%2F5436162%2Fvylepseny-lexus-is-bude-svietit-diodami.html&sl=sk&tl=en
  16. rubber mat - that was a recall, because the rubber mat was moving under the pedals and it might cause the accelerator to stuck I don't think so. All TSBs I've seen were applicable only on cars under warranty.
  17. I would say, don't look only on mpg. Look on TCO. I do not know the prices in GB, so I'll give the difference in Slovak republic Purchase cost (app -3500 eur for Diesel) 3y loan cost (-140 eur / year for diesel) insurance cost (app -100 eur/year for diesel) road tax cost (don't know) servicing cost 90.000km (-900 eur for diesel) consumption (-3600 for diesel - calculated diesel 7l/100km at 1.1eur per liter and petrol 9l/100km at 1.3eur per liter, for 90.000kms) resale cost (here it would be win for petrol to resale for same price as diesel) So, if you would have the car for 4 years and 90.000kms, the price advantage for diesel is 8820 eur, excluding the road tax (which, if I remember, is quite drastic for IS250 in compare with 220d) - I think the total difference would be close to 9000 euros. I am not able to calculate the extra luxury provided by IS250. This is up to every owner/deciding person, whether they want to spend the extra money for extra luxury. I did not want.
  18. if you can afford petrol, there is no reason to buy diesel. regardin diesel engine - there is ony one common problem - egr valve. This is the cause of high consumption and/or going in the limp mode, loss of power etc. I don't know whether you have ****ty fuel in GB, or it is because of the driving style (you are pushed to drive too slowly) - but keeping the engine on 1600rpm on 6th doesn't help the situation either. Anyway, egr needs to be clean, and thats it. Manual how to clean is here, it is not so difficult to do this at home. Other question is, why only early 2.0tdi have such a problem (they had problem not with egr, but with the cat) and other marques not. I don't know. But many IS owner have new egr valve, and less and less people are coming here with complaints, so I think that it has been solved.
  19. I'm getting fed up with those who continually knock the IS220D. mee too but I rarely have the strenght to reply.
  20. I opened my IS220d after 10 days as usual - by pulling the handle. The startup procedure went fine (including the steering wheel), just instead of starting I heard - tsik-tsik-tsik-tsik. And I had to use the starting cables.
