  1. I'd like to do it by myself also. What I don't know is how much of oil you need to fill.
  2. actually I was driven in taxi (c200cdi) and it was rattling. Anyway, I think that C200kompressor is the best car in this class at the moment.
  3. I havent. However I was looking inside (it is easy to open - just remove the side panel cover and then gently remove whole panel under the steering wheel) and it is full of cables...it will be easy job for the dealer service.
  4. good luck. I like the new merc also, specially the avantgarde, but I'd go for 180 kompressor.
  5. thanks for your replies. I had to go to the dealer anyway. One week before the warranty was out I jacked the car and checked the bottom (I was just curious if everything is fine). And I found leaking turbo...! So I booked to the dealer two days before the end of warranty. Later the service guy called me and said: turbo has to be replaced.* So did they. It took 3 days, I had RX350. Can't complain about the service at all. He told me, that they have never had any problem with turbos. New turbo costs 2300 euros without VAT...so quite a lot. + 7 hours of work. So diesel friends, I recommend to check it. When you will be at the bottom of the car, you have to remove small cover (where is the oil filter) - through this I took the pics. * do you know the risks when the turbo leaks? There are two options: 1. The rotor axe starts to move in the bearings, so the bearings start to fall apart. Remember that the bearings are constantly cooled and lubricated by engine oil. In one point the bearing crashes, which causes that the turbo starts to suck not just air, but also the oil. The oil becomes the fuel...so even with released accelerator, the engine speed will be increasing, increasing, to the point when the pistons and valves will meet, and kick out the engine block head... 2. when the bearing crashes, the fan of turbo will hit the wall of turbo. The fan will be destroyed to tiny parts, and these will be sucked in by engine, causing the pistons and valves crash... take care...
  6. the market in this segment is very different today then back in 2006, so if I would be deciding today: I don't know. If I had to decide in 2006 - yes I would buy another one.
  7. pls check this http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=62267
  8. in the middle of september my warranty will be off, so I am checking what to fix before. I was looking in the engine bay and on the left hand side (standing in front of the car) just below the grey engine lid there is something what looks like rust. Also, one part is red coloured... Could you please look in your car on that place how does it look like? My is IS220d, 3y old, 47kkm... thanks a lot for your help.
  9. just a quick comment on new RX - this is a bad car! I had test drive on rx450h -ride with air suspension is harsh as on IS (with steel even worse!) -not enough air vents so when it is hot the cold air goes directly on you -you have keyless access but you have to lock your car with the key as there is no button on the handlebar -the worst is the 4x4 system. Before with rx300 you could get a nice fulltime awd, now to new rx350 they put cheap on-demand system which has nothing to do with active safety. It only helps you to climb the hill a that is it - and as it has no locking differential or reduction, the hill access can not be complicated... With rx450h it is the same, but this was also with rx400h and it is matter of whole construction of the car. Neverthless, I don't know the pricing in GB, but here is the hybrid so much more expensive, that it is not worth unless you do 40k per year. Interior design reminds me to old avensis...I simply can not undestand how could lexus start to sell such unfinished car. When I look na X5, ML, Q7 - all are here for years and all are better in most ways than new lexus.
  10. I don't know how you mean this but according to my experience the lexus cruise controll rises the consumption by about 10%. I use it anyway... I have different experience with other marques.
  11. yes, and I do have also different readings. It is because that journey is so short, that everything affects the final reading a lot. For example, in ideal conditons (no rain, temperature 10-20celsius, no wind, no extra stops) I can get to work for 5,0-5,5 litres per 100km (51-56mpg) when it is 30deg - 43mpg, when it was -10deg - 33mpg. so don't worry, it is normal.
  12. Really Have you heard of Variable Vane Turbo's? 325d has one single Turbo, power is linear from 1300-3600RPM, no lag at all. Oh and it has 197bhp. In fact Audi does too. All the ISD needs is a better turbo and diff configuration, and it would very good. have you heard that 325d is a 3 litre engine? PS: nowadays, all diesels have VVTs...
  13. Gunther it is normal that lower powered diesel engines have more spread power in revs and less turbo lag...
  14. hi, do you have more of these pics? Like pics of dissasembling the B-pillar, whole centre console, back seats etc? (I mean assembling and dissasembling of whole interior :) ) thaks
  15. I forgot that may be there is a difference between EU and UK model. I have EU model. Anyway, I would not leave the same oil for longer than 20.000kms (in a diesel). For the expense, the oilchange costs here about 170€, so it is no problem at all.
  16. he had this merc? I think this is one of the best mercedes ever build
  17. That's an interesting point, but we used to have an older S500 before the CLS and that was silent inside but didn't rattle at all....... and what about suspension? S has airmatic, so does have also CLS or not? I think that would make difference also.
  18. it is different on diesel, it calculates the oil life and asks for change when "right" time comes - but max 30.000kms or 2 years.
  19. may be it is because today's cars are so quiet. It doesn't look like, but when I sit to older car and than back to lexus - it is huge difference.
  20. the 15.000kms service (or 1 year) is just the controll of the car. It takes about hour. They check levels of liquids (including the level of oil in differential), tire pressures and wash the car. Thats it. As I do mostly short journeys, I am also insisting on oil change after 15.000kms. With my driving style is the oil change required after ~22.000 kms (last time they forgot to reset oil "odometer" so it reminded me after such mileage).
  21. I read everywhere (in newspapers) about the superb consumption of LS460 and you have proven it again - those are really unbelievable numbers for such a large car with powerfull V8 engine! thanks
  22. Hello LS460 owners, what is your average consumption? thanks
