  1. Thanks John, actually my leather is still very good, despite the fact that I have not really taken the care I should , but I have cleaned and fed it !! Went out in it today and hadn’t had a run it for a while and needed to be used. Off down to Wolverhampton tomorrow , 120 return miles so clear out the cobwebs , looking forward to the drive 🤗
  2. I hate black leather in Lexus, in most other cars you do not have a choice, but I would never buy a Lexus with Black leather, just my own (and the wife’s) personal choice... nothing more.
  3. Whilst I understand, and that is an admirable stance to take, it is not realistic for probably over 60% plus of us who are not mechanically minded. Lexus has repeatedly won major awards globally for it products, over many years . i have had 2 GS 300’s, both covering nearly 200k miles and only serviced by a main dealer. Originally it was Holdcroft in Stoke who originally had the Franchise, and I can’t speak highly enough of how I was looked after. So after 400k without virtually any complaint, it does not suggest bad servicing. My wife has had 6 brand new Hondas, mainly CRV’s over the years, all main dealer serviced. I have never found a fault, but then again I have not looked too deeply. These cars have covered decent mileages and again, no problems except with the last one, air con compressor and alternator failure, both covered under warranty. This does not suggest bad servicing. If you now look at the issue that started this blog, it was all about an air filter that had not been changed at 100k miles. I responded as to whether it was on the schedule, and later confirmed by Colin Barber that it wasn’t, so not even due to be changed, and neither was it charged for. I would happily, and probably will, buy a new..ish Lexus in future and I would bet the house on it, that if I take it in for regular Dealer services as per the schedule, it will be an incredibly reliable vehicle for as long as I want to keep it. There are bound for things to go wrong, life is not that simple, but to suggest the whole network, somehow can’t be trusted is palpably wrong. All manufactures build vehicles with specs to cope with service items not being done. These vary by Country, and take account of human failings and 3rd World Standards and particularly some Eastern European that never service their cars. That is my opinion, but I have neither the time or the inspiration to stand over a man while he does a service and trust the brand that is Lexus for my future motoring needs, and think I a one of many, Cheers, Roger
  4. Well John you should have got a taxi to San Sebastián , most Michelin Starred restaurants of any City in Europe, plus I can vouch for the tapas bars.... just dreaming
  5. I agree that is not very good at all. I guess unless the actual service sheet specifies an air filter, the technician servicing the vehicle would not deviate ? At least you have the confidence to know they did not charge for something they did not do. Sadly not always the case. A friend of mine was Service Director of a main BMW agent 20, or so years ago. He is a stickler and made very clear to all employees to never tick something they had not done. BMW sent an undercover car in and then checked all the work had been completed as per the tick sheet. Sure enough they found work ticked and not completed, so my friend in the presence of the BMW representative called it the technician and confirmed he understood the instructions , which he did. He admitted he had ticked and not completed work. My friend sacked him there and then, much to the horror of the BMW rep. What did BMW then do ?.... found the technician a job at another BMW garage. Probably in this day and age a warning would need to be issued first, but it still does your brand an awful lot of harm, and despite what people may say, or think, Lexus/Toyota and I think Honda (apologies to those I have missed) have a pretty dam good reputation generally. That is my opinion, Cheers, Roger
  6. I think you have to accept the LC is essentially a two seater. The other thing is it is much lower down. I like you really like it, and would love one, have never sat in one. In my mind I am still 30, but for everyday use, I think you have to think of the practicalities. If I can get my wife to believe the RX 450h is not too big, as compared to her Jazz😂😂, I guess when my LS 430 goes that would be my choice. On the other hand , the LC is, in my opinion, pretty sensational.
  7. What's the best big engined car for £3000? I have a small budget of about £3000 and I see I can afford old Chrslyer 300C, old Audi A8 or A6, old BMW 7 Series and a big Lexus. I like big engined cars, so which do you think ages better and will possibly cost less in the long run? In summary, best stupid car for £3000. Asked on 29 May 2020 by Chris Answered by Andrew Brady Honestly? They could all cost a fortune to keep on the road. An old Lexus is probably your best option but even then you'll need deep pockets for maintenance and fuel costs
  8. The good thing about that Malc is that we may well have an infusion of entrepreneurial wealth creators, just like when Idin Amin expelled the Indians from Uganda. Beijing is considering counter measures so they must be pi**ed off about the loss of talent.
  9. At the end of the day, it comes down to the pleasure you enjoy from your purchase. You will no doubt keep this car for a long time, so what you paid is immaterial in the grand scheme. I have had 2 GS 300’s and enjoyed them both immensely, as I am certain you will. I think your Lexus looks awesome....enjoy.....like the rest of us !! Cheers, Roger
  10. I don’t think North Korea would totally subscribe to the sentiment of your viewpoint , but do understand them to be a peaceful nation
  11. I totally agree with the views and sentiment over the treatment of Hong Kong. China are actually breaking legally binding treaties , which is one of the most sacrosanct controls that exist in this World order. It is up to the United Nations to act, but I doubt they will show any teeth. I do think this whole situation is going to get ugly, not helped of course by Trump, who isolates his allies, just at the time he needs them. Whilst I will now try going forward to avoid buying anything Chinese, the reality as Barry points out, is that price for many buyers will be the overriding consideration. I think the good thing on the horizon, which has already started, is that production is starting to move from China to Vietnam. Nike have moved all of their production away from China, and would you believe wage costs in areas of Vietnam are 1/10th of those in China ( so I am informed) , but for how long I don’t know. India is going to be the one to watch, I hope. This is all heavy stuff for a Bank Holiday but I have enjoyed the opinions and this is mine, Cheers, Roger
  12. The Warranty Group administer the Lexus Warranty, on behalf of Lexus . They also do the same for Honda.
  13. Hi John, I hate to question your esteemed knowledge regarding the above before Lexus will give an extended warranty. My daughter and son in law returned from Qatar a few years ago and need a reliable run about quickly. I found one on eBay an RX400h with over 100,000 miles on the clock. It did not have a full Lexus service history, in fact after warranty all of the servicing was done at a garage in Birkenhead. However it did have a Lexus used warranty in place which was transferred by Lexus Chester to my son in law, which was confirmed before purchase, and which he subsequently used to correct some faults, cheers, Roger
  14. Actually Max, I would look at it that they don’t know the part no, because nobody orders them. They will probably have them in their own stocks as consumables, because Lexus are very keen on these small details to stop oil leaks. That’s my view anyway, but I am not competent to do my own servicing. Good luck, Roger
  15. Not bad news then really , speak to Frosty and get a replacement he is not far from you 👍
  16. Sometimes it is nice to have joility, sometimes it is too serious.......methinks
  17. Actually I did notice somebody watching, but thought they too were aghast to see a Lexus being towed by a breakdown truck. I’ll bet the AA man was surprised as there are certain makes of cars they rarely attend, Honda, Suzuki, Toyota, Lexus etc. etc. noticeably all Japanese, to name but a few, and apologies for any not listed. However this is all the more remarkable when you consider how many old cars are still on the road, and probably not properly maintained. They obviously must fail at some point, but I guess the parts are designed to show failure wear, but have the ability to continue to perform. Having always been used to new cars, it is something I have had to learn, that hopefully, my Lexus will give me notice, and so I can replace or repair rather than a catastrophic failure, breakdown and all that follows. My brother recently had to write off his wife’s 2010 Golf Bluemotion 1.6 TDI, with 80k on the clock, which had been in the family from new and correctly serviced. The reason.... failed oil pump, which was a known fault ..... apparently. The cost to repair was not worth it, so he bought a new Honda Jazz.
  18. Have a word with Paul Frost, not a lot he doesn’t know, plus has replacement parts. 07590 072646. Good luck, my you do get all the bad luck 🤦‍♂️
  19. Well I am looking forward to seeing Malc, in his hydrogen powered tuktuk, driving back to Kent , after filling his overhead balloon storage tank, in Hendon. Sounds totally feasible to me 😂😂
