  1. Oops back on there is a nice looking 98 one on autotrader also for £995 146k 2 owners.
  2. If any car has been left standing for a long period of time the valve stem seals go hard. It could also be a rocker cover seal around one of the plugs you have a main seal running around the rocker cover & 4 round spark plug seals ( one of these might be leaking ). How much oil are you using ? ,
  3. has it been left standing for a long time, If so it might be the hydraulics for the valve lifters have drained of oil so might need a fair bit of turning over before it will go. If its turning over really fast your cambelts snapped (very unlikely).
  4. Right click & it comes up at the top of the box (with linux anyway )
  5. I've always known them as BM trouble you's I used to work along side a BMW specialist in Germany I saw a lot of low miles well looked after cars coming in with major problems.
  6. Seems a lot of the 2.0 diesel BMWs 2007 to 2009 are having cam chain failier.
  7. My daily ride has 16 forward & 4 reverse 420 bhp & a 12 litre lump( 6.2 mpg though)
  8. I will get in touch with Sir David Attenborough and see if he can get a new series looking for this rare creature. Mike Not David Attenborough pleeeeease! Surely some one else works for the BBC, or maybe he's cheap which is why he's always, and I mean always on. He is one of the only ones left at the BBC it seems lots of the others were in Jimmy & Garys gang. It also seems Sooty & Sweep have a case pending.
  9. Didn't you know after 1997 they were all made by the umper lumpers as a sideline to chocolate. Can't have all the eggs in one basket don't you know. All Lexus models are produced in Japan apart from the rx330 which has been produced in Canada since 2003
  10. On a serious note be careful when rushing out to buy a car with a big bunch of notes. I went to buy a Corolla for my Mum off gumtree that was advertised, a really good buy. I turned up at the address down a quiet dead end, not known at the address. when I called the vendor he said he would meet me with the car. I told him where to go. Coincidently there was a group of 4 or 5 blokes not far away. when I called one of their phones went off & when I ended the call their call ended. I am on the large stocky type & had a mohawk at the time I also had a large stocky mate with me. ( if not I think I might have been relieved of the cash).
  11. Hi Chris I would be a very tight fit in a Micra - I am sure it would be a good laugh videoing me trying :) You are correct about the car needing more LPG than petrol for the same power - 22MPG on petrol and best case 20 MPG on LPG. This is because ss you quote LPG only has 73% of the energy of LPG. Bren Hi LPG has a lower calorific value than petrol or diesel but also is higher octain & burns more efficiently . Surely this would make up some way for the lower energy? or am I missing something.
  12. Get a solar charger & a couple of crocodile clips to connect direct to the battery should do the trick.
  13. I would hope so. I used to leave a honda civic in a field for 3 months at a time when I lived in Holland. That always amazed me how it always started first turn of the key. (poor car I had it 3 years & it never got looked at).
  14. Got mine done at an halfords auto centre they did a proper job for under £50.
  15. Can you locate the pothole again, photograph it & contact the relevant council, you can use the freedom of info 2000 act to find out when the road was last inspected & if the hole was noted & not repaired you have grounds for a claim. There was a feature on Watchdog about it 2 or 3 weeks ago you can look up for more info.
  16. I really hope so Mark. Unfortunately I am not sure the timing and electronics etc are the problems - with all the tools available it is possible to sort that out if you want to pay. The big challenge is the direct injection system - the petrol injectors go straight into the cylinders so they need to be cooled when running on gas or possibly you could run on a mix of petrol and gas - assuming there is somewher you can fit the gas injectors - but this would kill the economics. You will then need to sort out the ECU to drive all this. As an engineer I expect some clever so and so will come up with a solution and there is hope as most petrol engine manufacturers move to DGI the LPG converters will have to keep up. Cheers Bren AC stag are already doing DGI or DPI systems if you go on their website there is a list of cars they do.AC400 DPI controllers All they need is the timing stats which are normally released 7 years after first production to develop a system for a specific model. Leon from Profess will let you know more about it if you pm him. I spoke with him about it when I was last there as a mate is thinking about a 460 or 600.
  17. Hi Chris there are 2 on ebay at the moment a green mark4 with 62k & a 1995 white celsior with 10k yes 10 K.
  18. When the 460s get to 7 years old they will release the fuel timing settings for it & there should be lpg kits available soon after that.
  19. Seems the lexus range is ok apart from the rx300 I did 60,000 miles on my last ls 400 on lpg no probs & my mate did about 140,000 on his mark2, My weekly fuel bill is down from £80 to £45 & I drive a bit more spirited on lpg than I did on petrol.
  20. £1450 with profess for a perfect conversion & about 9000 miles payback is right.
