  1. Diesel should be left to trucks , buses & at a push large vans. With the extra purchase cost, fuel cost & extortionate repair costs when they go wrong, you would have to do some miles to recoup that lot.
  2. I put the ones out of my 400 into my 430 & they fitted, Now I'm back to a 400 with the same mats. So I would say yes.
  3. Hi I am searching for the evasive 55mm DHP centre caps if anyone has any ideas. Thanks Mark
  4. And mine Original shellby Mustang. Porsche 911 carera Aston dbs Ford rs200 Toyota land cruiser amazon petrol. the list could go on but that little lot would be fine along side my LS 400.
  5. Someone came around to buy some bike bits & fell in love with the dog offered us £5000 for her. Needless to say we are keeping her. (nice little doggy in the window)
  6. I would ride with the 18'' in the summer & the 16'' with winter tyres in the winter. The ride suffers a bit with the 18'' but the handling is better. Them accelera tyres are also not the best.
  7. Liverpool Glasgow & Manchester renowned for cheap wheels & a brick shortage.
  8. I think they look great but I would as I bought them for mine. Only reason I sold them was I got the dhp wheels & SWMBO was giving me stick about the amount of wheels in the garage.
  9. I bought a maxi scan ms300 code reader off ebay for my ls 430 works a treat for under £20 will tell you what's wrong & reset the lights. some times military installations have been known to set these lights off, I would go down the code reader path first delete the codes & see what happens.
  10. The main thing about the autobahn is the standard of driving on them is far superior to our motorways, only came across 2 jelly heads as we call them in the trade (I'm a lgv driving instructor). Belgium is another mater.
  11. On my near 1000 mile round trip to Germany this week & I was not hanging about 80 to 110 + 145 (only 5 miles) I returned an equivalent of 44 mpg my trip computer stated 27.5 for the trip.
  12. The tax won't go up for the next few years & when it does it will only go up 1p per litre per year . Signed up agreement by the government as part of an eu green policy I believe. I have been using lpg for the last 7 years & the tax hasn't gone up yet. Some petrol stations are greedy with their profit on it though if there is no near by competition.
  13. I would never rule out a dealer selling a car cheap , especially if they deal in high end cars. Say a nice LS 400 comes in p/x, it takes a lot of room on the front & isn't going to make much profit . it costs to send it to auction. so some dealers put them up for sale for what they think it might make at auction, for a quick sale , to free up space for a car that there is a good profit in. They will have probably had a good margin on the price of the car they took it in p/x against. A good example was the dealer I bought my ls 430 from 2004 90k £3500 . He normally deals in newer cars so sells off the p/x cars really cheap to free up valuable space. He turns over apx 60 cars a month from quite a small premises.
  14. Ok I am back round trip of 972 miles, £127 of lpg. At 145 mph 17.2 mpg average over 5 miles. Sat on the autobahn between 95 to 120 apart from the 1 stint at 145 & at around 85 in France, Belgium & Holland . The car performed perfectly as expected. The Only other LS I saw was in the que for the ferry on the way back. A lovely 430 with 80k on it just been to Poland & back, Had a bit of a chat he should be along soon as it seems he has owned a couple of LS 's over the years.
  15. I seem to remember I got 80mpg equivalent on that trip due to the lpg being 25p a litre in Belgium at the time.
  16. I go 3 or 4 times a year all seasons I took my old black one up to 145 mph ( still had more to go ) no dramas rock solid no twitchiness , quiet enough to hold a whispered conversation. I tend stick around the 85 to 100 mph mark. The road noise is much less on the continent apart from Belguim. I have 2 adaptors that live in the car ( I would misplace them if I took them out ).
  17. Thats my only complaint with the LS sometimes the throttle is a bit erratic when taking off from lights, I only gave it a light touch honest . Off to Germany in mine tomorrow last time I was on petrol, this time on gas I suspect my fuel economy may drop slightly when I get to the autobahn.
  18. Hi you wont need to use your spanners too much, but if you do they are a joy to work on no special tools needed. The LS 400 is probably the best built car ever, The only downside is you will never find another car to replace it.
  19. Check your rocker cover gaskets, You may have a slight leak from one & its burning off on the exhaust manifold. (My one is doing this) I will get around to change the gasket this summer when it arrives as it will be a good few hours work on bank 1 (near side) bank 2 (off side) would be easy.
  20. When I had a breakdown on a bike in the UK it was the AA that recovered the bike & me home 126 miles. In Austria they sent a German HGV driver with the Ambulance driver & nurse to get me home. You are still dealing with the ADAC though & they deal with the companies in other countries.
  21. If its hellicoiled (re threaded) the new plug should be OK as long as no damage has been done to the valves or piston. & the cause of the overheating sorted.
  22. When I get collard by the AA or RAC reps outside Tesco I tell them about the ADAC every one of them has asked me how do I join. ADAC PLUS is about the same as AA 5 star that you pay an exorbertant amount extra for when you travel abroad.
  23. Try ADAC plus, covers you Europe wide & beyond about 79 euro a year. You can join via fax & the cover is unbelievable I've tried them out a few times. Rescued me off a glacier (snowboarding accident) 2 ambulances 1 nurse, hotel, doctors bill & recovery of my 7.5 tonne camper home all paid for. 2nd time got the camper stuck off road on a Greek mountainside sent mechanic & a bulldozer to recover it ( low loader wouldn't be able to get the camper down) their response was don't worry if there is a way we will find it. 3rd time in Spain on a Sunday afternoon my Mr's bike broke down recovered us to a camp site we were heading for & came back the next day to take the bike for repair. They even have their own planes to repatriate people. & yes all for 79 euro a year, Make sure you get ADAC Plus though. Google it & get the form to fax over. I can't praise the service I have had from them enough, Yes being German they are very efficient
  24. Funny enough I was looking at them last night I think Leon from profess might be going for one.
